Heartbroken

Oh 2024 the year my heart was broken…. A few months ago now we lost my mother in law which was a shock and last month my beautiful amazing grandma past away whom I was extremely close to…

Sometimes the grief of losing my grandma  is so bad that it feels like I’m drowning …

When I lost my mother in law I spoke to a grief councillor which helped but this time it’s all too hard, I haven’t cried since grandma passed and also find it hard to get back into the things I love

I feel like I’m just going through the motions to keep afloat

Dear Star18,

2024 is also the year my heart has been broken by grief.

I can't imagine how you are feeling losing two extremely important people to you in a close timeframe.

But I can understand grief and empathise with you.

Grief isn't measured by the number of tears you cry for someone. Or how sad you are. Grief is different every time.

By what you are describing, could you perhaps be experiencing some depression as well as grief?

Grief does make things hard to enjoy things in your life and makes you feel like you are going through the motions. But I am wondering if the fact that two people have passed so close together could be too much, too soon.

Perhaps if things continue, you may like to connect with your GP, who may connect you to a psychologist. You aren't alone. Keep connecting here, I am an open ear.
