TPD for depression

Hello All,

I've been off work with a major depressive disorder for 20 months, my employer (a well known multinational) instructed me to attend an Independence Medical Examination, based on the examination report my employment will be terminated.

Depressed, alone, out of work and with a mortgage is not a good place. I'm about to start a TPD claim in the hope that I can keep my home.

Does anyone have experience with TPD claims, I've read they can be difficult to prove ?

Any advice ?

Regards

Hi everyone I’m currently in the middle of my tpd claim I’ve been waiting around 7 months for a decision so far I’ve given them two ime reports my gp psychologist and psychiatrist report I’ve been diagnosed with major treatment resistant depression and ptsd I have a no win no fee lawyer and have had ect 14 times tms treatment 60 times been to 2 years worth of counseling and 3 admissions into a mental hospital with all the courses cbt etc my problem is I was working in a high paying role and I had a major mental breakdown due to stress and harassment from work due to financial hardship I’m very close to bankruptcy I’m only 30 years old I find it very hard considering they will look at my age and amount I’m insured for and just delay and deny it is really frustrating to the point I’m sucidal I can’t get centerlink payments due to not being a Australian citizen any advice on what I could do to expedite my claim or anything would be great I just wish I wasn’t insured for so much as that potentially being a factor of the insurer playing dirty and denying or delaying for longer this is so stressful I wish they had actual real timelines they had to follow on a decision it’s too the point I just want to pull out due to the stress of it all but I can’t do anything else I’m too unwell. Any advice would be awesome thankyou

Hi newbie218 I hope you're still around to read this. It's been 4 years since my last post here and my husband's mental health has been on the decline. With financial pressures mounting up, I've decided to revisit this option. Are you in Sydney by any chance? Are you able to recommend the psychiatrist that treated you? We would also need a supportive psychiatrist for the claim process. Thank you
