Hi. First off I never realised that such a forum existed. I have struggled with (but have just recently admitted it) to mental health problems all of my life. I have always been 'to busy' or 'don't have time' to tackle things head on. Anyway, my story is full of undiagnosed depression and anxiety. I was hospitalized last year for a suicide attempt, and that still did not wake me up. Until just recently, I have had a car accident and wrote off my car, being fired from my job, am moving house, and my anxiety levels are through the roof. I can not sleep. I self medicate with alcohol which makes everything worse. Being a single parent I am used of taking care of everyone else and putting myself last. I have taken the big step to making an Doctors appointment tomorrow as I know this can't go on. Something is going to give. I hope he listens to me and I really don't know where to start. But anyway, thoughts and comments will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Laura68~
Welcome here to the Support Forum. Hopefully someone might give you some useful ideas.
You certainly have had a lot of calamities recently and while they do happen how you manage to cope with them is important. You already know alcohol is not the answer, and are very sensibly seeing your GP, hopefully with some counceling and even meds.
It's common not to know where to start, I have that trouble too, particularly when seeing someone for the first time. All my thoughts and experiences crowd in together in my mind and I'm not in the least sure I'll be able to make them understand it all.
One solution I find works well is to take time to write it all out first, probably in point form. If you do this you have time to get things in order, ensure you have not left anything out and can take the trouble to be clear.
In the consultation the clinician normally seems pleased as there is a list of what's wrong and they can prioritize, no forgotten important maters that need attention.
Sorry about thecar and job, dunno if moving is good or bad for you. If you would like to wire some more that would be great

reading about your attempt last year made me think about a line in a song "suicide doesnt stop the pain, youre only moving it". if youre struggling to find light in life, i like to think about the little things, finding a coin on the street, watching your fav show, even something such as running water can brighten your day if you let it. while i am very young and dont have much expertise on any of this, those are my thoughts. prayers with you and your family
