Anyone else feel so lonely? I have no one who understands what it's like to be suffering.

Hi liv1,
I am sorry you are going through a hard time at the moment, that must be hard. It does feel lonely when you have this feeling, and you may feel like no one else can feel like this. But the reality is, we all feel sad and struggle sometimes. Most of us feel alone sometimes. I know how you feel.
It is important to reach out to your friends or family if you feel like this. Or even reaching out here is a good start - you are not alone. You can reach out anytime and we can support you. Try to lean on your family and friends too.
I hope things improve soon,
Jaz xx

Hello liv1
Welcome to the forums. This is a place where we can expect to be heard & where we support each other.
You are definitely not alone in feeling lonely & many of us have dad thought, feelings & experiences which we have thought no-one would understand.
We try to do our best to listen & to be non-judgemental, welcoming to everyone, including you.

Thankyou. I feel like every time I tell people what I'm going through they don't get it or they do get it and they support me for a small period of time. But no one's able to stick with me and help me in the long run.

Yeah I'm isolated due to disability and a lack of supports and it gets really hard to stay positive.
Loneliness feels like the flu sometimes, its draining, and makes it harder to feel motivated and happy. I often find myself doing less than I want to because I wish I had someone else to do things with.
But its not all bad, loneliness can give you some time to self-reflect and to enjoy all the smaller things in your life. I know I have come to appreciate my alone time even if I miss having people around too. I really appreciate my things and nature, and theres also the freedom of being myself without judgement.
Still its not easy and I wish you the best. If it helps you can always call a mental health service just for a chat, its not always the same as having a close friend to talk to, but sometimes it can elevate the loneliness enough to keep you going.
But also you are right, apart from those who have been lonely too, many people do not understand, they cant imagine something they have not experienced. But dont fret, loneliness is common, which is unfortunate, but it also means that your not alone in your loneliness. We do live in a world that can make it hard to form attachments, so its only natural some people get lonely. Take care!

Hi liv1 and to all reading,
Loneliness can feel overwhelmingly depressing at times can't it? I have been known to drop in to the local post office just for a chat if they are not busy. I go to the library so I am around people or wander though the shops having short random hellos and sometimes a brief conversation with people.
I know this does not fix the loneliness feeling, it helps to ease it a little some days. I also try to keep myself busy or distracted. When the feelings hit had I might watch a movie or read a book, listen to music, do a puzzle or find some other kind of activity.
I'm also lining up some volunteering so I will be around people one morning a week. It is a start.
Would you like to share some of the activities you do enjoy during the day ? If not, that is okay too.) Connecting with people on the forum is one way to feel a part of this community. I know it is not the same as face to face contact, it does help me.

Hello
Loneliness is one of the worst feelings in the world.
Kinda living it myself at the moment.
The things i like to do are walk and talk to my dog. Ive been reading a lot more than usual and trying to make more of an effort to reach out and talk to friends.

Hi JED 1980, liv1 and All reading,
Due to Covid and possible also due to my mental health issues, I no longer have contact with some of my friends from the past. If I don't contact them I don't hear from them. Some days that really hurts.
The towns I am closed to don't seem to have community houses or places where people can gather. A Church group used to hold social mornings, that hasn't happened for a while due to Covid.
I don't have a dog. I have even thought of going to a dog park just to watch dogs running around having fun and to talk to someone!
Today I am going to a different town 20 kilometres away to join in a social lunch gathering held by a Church group. Our town has nothing social to attend. I'm not sure what to expect.
I tried to phone the contact person for this group. There phone message was less than encouraging and far from welcoming so hopefully the actual group will be okay. If I don't try then I will never know!
