Did anyone experience this before? This is always happening to me, especially before sleep.
I have been suffering from depression for years, but I only start seeing doctor few months ago., I haven't talk to my doctor about this issue. I just want to see whether anyone can give me some advices on this?

Hi Leah,
First off welcome to the beyondblue forums. Congratulations on both posting here and going to see your gp. Neither of those things are easy to do.
While I am only a sufferer and not a doctor, it sounds to me like shortness of breath, particularly before going to sleep is a symptom of anxiety. If you find them happening during the day, they could be escalating into panic attacks.
I suffer from both anxiety and depression myself, though the anxiety only really started affecting me these past two months. So don' t panic about the possible diagnosis (pardon the pun) as anxiety is entirely treatable, sometimes more easily then depression.
My suggestion would be to go back to your gp and tell them about your symptoms. Are you seeing other professionals- a psychologist or counsellor? Do you feel comfortable with you gp? Do you find these moments preventing or disturbing your sleep?
I'll stop pestering youwith questions and hope you can feel comfortable to reply to us.

Hi Leah,
I second GA's advice - you really do need to talk to your doctor about shortness of breath.
It can be symptomatic of panic, but it is also a symptom of some really quite significant physical conditions as well, that would need urgent attention. I won't rattle them off as I don't want to alarm you, but please get an appointment with your GP ASAP. If it becomes rapidly worse call 000 and get to a hospital ED.

Hello, I started to meet with psychiatrist one month ago., I told the doctor about my condition, which is SOB. I had few anxiety attacks before I met the specialist and I discussed with her about this few weeks ago. Thanks for replying me.
