Hey Jenny,

I am very happy to here that your depression has been well managed and that you have had limited hospital admissions. I think it is important to understand and realise that the doctors and other health professionals at the hospital who will assess you are there to help you and want to see you get better. The thought of being assessed to most would be absolutely daunting and overwhelming however you are showing great courage and bravery for agreeing to get assessed and that is amazing. All these feelings that you are feeling are completely normal.

I hope your assessment has gone well and please keep us updated on your situation. I look forward to hearing back from you.

All the best.

I have not had the courage to go. My grandson stayed with me over the week end. I do not have private health cover. I live in Perth. Can anyone recommend a good public psychiatric unit please. It is complicated as I also have Hashimotos and Lyme disease. Thank you.

Hello Jenny B

This would be a difficult time for you. I have had chronic anxiety (not being able to leave my house) which was treated yet was followed by awful depression in the late 1990's. This is my 23rd year on SSRI's and can partially understand what you are going through

May I ask you about your symptoms if thats okay? (if not...no problem and please ignore my awkward question)

you are not alone

my kind thoughts for you

Paul

Hi Jenny,

Hope you enjoyed your grandson's company and thanks for the response.

Please go to google and search "METROPOLITAN - IN-PATIENT AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN WA". The website you are looking for is the 'Government of Western Australia Mental Health Commission'. This is a useful page than can be of assistance to you.

I also know that Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL): 1300 555 788 will be able to help you.

Hope this helped.

Look forward to hearing your back from you.

Thank you. I have spoken to the help line and know I can go to a local hospital for an assessment. I do not have the energy to go. Hoping the increase in medication, Vit D and Folic acid B helps soon. My GP is back on the 24th Sep, I will see him then. I live alone, have 3 pets to care for. If I improve, good, if not and soon I will get a public hospital assessment.

Hi Jenny,

Don't mention it!

Just always remember the helpline is there for you to use so if you have any enquiries they should be able to assist you.

I take Vitamin D and Folic supplements too 🙂

What type of pets do you have? I have two cats (Jasmine and Scarlett) - might be getting a new dog soon now that I have fences in my yard.

I think its a good idea to visit the GP as soon as they get back however if you have concerns about your health please call 000 or see your closest public hospital for an assessment.

Look forward to hearing back from you.
