Hi New,
I'm really sorry to hear that you are suffering right now, and have seemingly suffered for a while leading up to this point. Clearly, you are reaching out here because you want to get better, you want to share these burdens you bear and seek help in dealing with them, you want to feel joy and happiness again.
Your belief that there is no hope for you, and that things won't get better, is completely flawed, misleading, and inaccurate. We all have the ability to feel good, to be happy, to experience joy and simple, neutral feelings of peace. You are no different to me or anybody else in this respect. Your thinking mind is, however, doing a good job of (falsely) convincing you that YOU, just you, can not get to this place.
Just as you have been convinced, by a long chain of negative thoughts and emotions, that you can not achieve happiness and peace, you can likewise be convinced by a chain of positive thoughts and emotions, that you can and you will. I will suggest a few starting points that you may wish to ponder:
- Self help: do what I and countless others have done and help yourself. Start with learning and informing yourself of the physiology and psychology of your situation. Continue with the knowledge that you are not alone. Advance by studying wellness techniques (mindfulness; deep breathing; laughter; smiling; exercise; right diet; cognitive therapy, and so on). Pickup a copy of The Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle) and see where it leads you. There are many others, this is one example that may resonate with you.
- Go and see a counselor, pronto. Find someone to talk you through these feelings, and help you develop good habits.
- Create some basic milestones you want to aim at. Start really basic (ie: today, I am going to be sure to watch one funny movie; laugh for 15mins; try to hold 5 positive thought chains and see them through; walk 2 kms; do 20 pushups etc.). Do it, daily. Start simple.
- Come on here to Beyondblue, and talk to us. Keep talking to us, help others. Share your experiences.
- Call the BB Helpline, as needed.
You have made the first step, you are here. You have clearly stated you will not harm yourself. So, there is one thing to do now. Get better! We are here for you, please come and speak with us at anytime. All the best.
Steve
