I truly hate myself right now. I have no friends and cannot talk to my partner of 20 years as he doesn't do empathy. One of my major problems is that I can never see the good in other people and find it difficult to say anything nice to anyone. Words come out of my mouth and I immediately regret them.
I suffer with depression but I am coming off my medication as I don't feel it's helping.
I never feel good enough. I think this comes from my parents as they never encouraged me to achieve anything only telling me what I wouldn't achieve. Also at school I had problems and was never encouraged and people wonder why I hated school.
I have made up illnesses in the past which have resulted in long stays in hospital. I don't know why I did this.
I want to stop my current behaviour as it is so destructive but I don't know how. I just want to feel better about myself and maybe have some friends that I can share my thoughts with

dear Marg, welcome to the site.
I can see how much hurt there is from what has happened all your life, but firstly I would like to know why you are stopping your medication, because I don't believe that this is a good idea, but let's put that aside at the moment, and talk about it a bit later, or when other wonderful people have also replied.
People outside of this site may say that you just made up all these fabrications just for attention seeking, maybe or maybe not, but your parents were never encouraging to you towards anything in life, plus your partner has no empathy to what you have to say, so it's been ongoing all your life, and by going to hospital was a chance to stand up and say 'hey I need some help here, I'm desperate for help', however by doing this only made your situation worse, as there would be no support from the doctor's who would add to the fabrication, so your back to square one.
You have no self esteem at all and this includes any confidence, because it's always been pushed away, so now your at the bottom, which means that you shouldn't be stopping your medication or perhaps it needs to be changed and to be re-accessed.
There is so much more that needs to be spoken about, but I want to wait for others to respond first, as now is approaching my log off time, but will continue tomorrow, but please have a think about what I have said. L Geoff. x

Dear Margs23,
I have been on anti-depressants for close to 20 years and it took me trying 4 different types before I found the ones that work best for me. Please don't just go off your meds. If you fell as if they are not working for you then please see someone to talk about other options like increasing the dosage or trying a different type. The ones I take now, I have been on for about a decade and they work well so maybe you should disscuss this with a GP or therapist. But whatever you do , please don't just go off them all together.
regards

Hi Marg
Welcome to the forum. I understand what you're saying about meds not working. I actually stopped mine 2 weeks ago but now back on them with the help of my psych. I think if you can find a pyschiatrist that can change your meds and a pyschologist that you find comfortable in talking to it would help you greaatly.
I am in a similar situation to you - no empathy from hubby of 28 yrs or my family. And it's tough and that's why I feel it would be good for you to see someone so you can let it all out and stay on here and chat with us.
Take care
Jo

dear Marg, are you interested into having a look at this on google 'other types of antidepressants besides SSRI and SNRI' just copy and paste this.
It will explain all the different types of antidepressants ( AD) and unfortunately it's a trial and error when it comes to trying to find the one that actually has a benefit for you, and this also includes what dosage you would be taking.
I understand that you want to talk to someone, and this is very important, but ideally combining both these would be better.
See how you go after you have a look at this site. L Geoff. x
