Does anyone else start feeling better as life gets that bit better and then all of a sudden start feeling like crap again?

Some of you may know i have had depression and anxiety for a few years now (sorry i havent been on am working full time and always busy so havent had time 😞 ) i had been feeling pretty good as stated above i now have a full time job (finally) and own a decent car (old and cheap but roadworthy and mechanically good), have over $1k in the bank and i have paid off or am smashing through my debts (massive event for me) and am now in the process of trying to get a house with a few friends and have been feeling great until about a week ago i said "things are finally starting to look up for us all" and ever since then i have been feeling really depressed and have anxiety... i was just wondering if anyone else starts feeling better as life gets that bit better and then all of a sudden starts feeling like crap again? It seems like when things start going right for once i get scared which sounds stupid (and i do think it is stupid but unfortunately its just how i react 😞 )

hi Gibby, I have read your comment back to Gruffudd, and what you doing at the moment is powering through your debts, own a car and looking for a house which you hope your mates will join you, but with this success there is a thought that all of this is going to crumble once again, well we never know or in fact it could get even better for you, so you don't need to look on the down side, there is a chance that life will only get so much better, rather going the other way, however you may stumble along the way, we can never deny that this could be about to happen, nobody knows and you can never tell yourself until you begin to feel flat, but just put this down as having a relapse, because no matter how well you feel a relapse may happen.
It has happened to me several times, but up I get, knowing it will eventually get better for me, and it's having this knowledge that will see you through, so say to yourself 'OK I'm having a difficult time right now but I know it will get better', it's this positive thought you have in the back of your mind, that will pull you through once again.
You have to realise that no one can be on a high, meaning feeling happy, all the time, that's impossible because our mood is sensitive to what goes on around us and have to understand this, because who wants to be happy all the time, if we were then we wouldn't recognise what sadness and sorrow means, so there would be no meaning on how life exists. Thanks geoff, im feeling better today 🙂 i normally just try and brush off what dad says but sometimes it does hurt when im doing my best, and yes i do completely understand without the lows there would be no highs...

And i have got my debts down from 9.6k to 6.9k in the matter of 4 months... plus buying my car and saving 1k for bond and a few overspends on clothes and stuff so i think im doing pretty good 🙂

Hope this makes sense am a bit to ready for bed atm hahahah 😛

hi Gibby, thanks for getting back, and yes it does make sense, but also a great achievement and pleased that you are feeling better, but you have done really well so good on you. Geoff.
