a buoyant life tame of mortal body,
but idle strings dull, with weary rust
marching over to melancholia at its bugle call
then march through shadowy feelings
into a Caravaggio painting of darkness and light,
perilous is the grip that the psychological tip-toe
thief has on the frailty of the mind, depression
breach the dam mad from jelly, it’s impetus
flow into the gin clears waters of blood stream,
through out the body.

Hi Roadhawk
Welcome to our forums. Thank you for taking the time to share this amazing poem. I must admit that I don't understand all of it but I can tell you are incredibly perceptive at being able to articulate what a mental illness feels like.
Can you tell us more about you?
Blue Jane

Dear Roadhawk`
I'd like to welcome you here and thank you for your poem. People often use that medium as it can express feelings, thoughts and situation in a way that is more real and evocative than a straight narrative.
Looking at your words I"m given the impression that all is not well in your life, far from it. Depression, melancholia and the choice of Caravaggio(who was somewhat gruesome at times) do not denote peace or contentment.
Having broken the ice so to speak would you like to resort to narrative (which does have some virtues in describing facts) and say more about your life and situation?
There is a great body of understanding and care here - as you will see from just browsing other threads.
While I remember you may be interested in other people's verse:-
