Hello to any people that read this....
I was wondering if anyone else can relate to what is happening to me.
I have been a member on BB for a couple of months. During this time a have read a lot of other people posts, like what is happening to them, and how they feel. And sometimes my heart hurts after I read their words. Often times I cry about the pain they have felt, because I can't stand the thought of anyone else hurting or in pain in any way.
They are all strangers to me, yet they are not at the same time. All I want to do is give them hugs. True some of the feelings they have are no stranger to me, because I have felt them. But the person is..... And I do feel a little connection to some people.
But mostly this is all I can do, just cry, give hugs and tell little stories. And sometimes I feel useless, because I cannot offer advice or something. I even feel a bit dumb, because everyone else seems to give advice, but I am unable, because I don't know what advice to give. And I wouldn't want to give the wrong advice anyway. I don't seem to operate much from the head, just emotions and feelings.
I do care very much about every single person that I read about.
Can anyone relate at all? And now all I want to do his give each of you a hug to thankyou for giving your time to me in reading my words.
So here is my hug and with all my heart I say thank you.
Shelley xx

Hi Shelley,
You have an immense amount of empathy and compassion. It's both a gift and a curse. It's a gift because you can sympathise with others, and will be loved and cared about by many because of this. The not so good part is being overwhelmed by the suffering and problems of others. I personally think having high levels of empathy is more of a gift, even if it can be overwhelming at times 🙂
You are such a kind and loving person, and you never need to change any part of who you are. I am surprised you have only been on the forum for a few months, considering the sheer amount of posts you have made! Even though you don't feel you can give advice, your presence and input on this forum is very positive and welcoming.
If you are ever emotionally overwhelmed by stories or comments on the forum, you could take a break for a few days if you need to. Everyone needs an emotional break sometimes. If you find suicide a triggering topic, perhaps don't read too much in the Suicidal thoughts and self-harm section of the forum.
I hope you keep having positive interactions with us here!
Best wishes,
SM

Hey SM
I think you maybe right, I was and probably still are emotionally overwhelmed. Thankyou so much for pointing that out. Sometimes my heart gets so full of whatever it gets full with that my brain just does not see the logical. Even as I write this to you, I don't even know if what I have just written makes any sense? But I aim to try and not access BB as much, just to give my heart and brain a bit more of a respite.
With love to you

Hey DJ
Thankyou for your willingness to be helpful. I have read that thread you started, and I didn't know how to reply to what you said. So I hope that is OK?
Hugs

Hey Sherie
I am glad that you feeling a hug from me helps you. You are right I don't realize the impact. I can't get my brain around it or something. You are also right about it affecting my welfare, because my heart can feel very heavy. So if you see less of me here on the forums, then know that I am just resting a bit. But I still love you.
Hugs

Dear Tony
I don't know how to reply to your post much, only that I am thankful that you gave me some of your time. I do appreciate it and you. And I think if I hit a bird whilst driving, I would be in tears, because I couldn't stand the thought of the bird hurting. I don't know about the issues in your life, but I was wondering where you kept all those cars? And did you have them all at the same time?
Thanks again

Hey Geoff
I will keep just doing as you suggested, that is to give my love and try not to worry about whether I can give advice or not.
With appreciation to you

Hey KT
I am glad you felt at ease and accepted. But I have to tell you something.......... in the world outside of BB, well I feel very awkward around other people, so not at ease at all. And I think this radiates from me or something. Anyway I hate that, and it makes me want to run and hide.
Hugs
