The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

Hello dear Fiatlux,

Those sound like wonderful culinary creations. I eat gluten and dairy free but do have eggs. I can tolerate a little gluten occasionally but the dairy I'm very allergic to. It's good to find ways to use up things like over ripe bananas and it's great to have something like banana bread on hand as a snack.

The Thai dish sounds wonderful. I love Thai food. I'm staying in the city shortly and will be near a Thai place so I will go there at least once I think. I often cook Thai-style chicken or fish curries. It is one of my staple things and will often give me about 4 meals since I'm on my own. I understand about ordering the sweet treats to qualify for free delivery - hehehe. I'm now wondering about what yummy things are included.

Wishing you and everyone a wonderful week too! 🙏💖

I have seen weighted teddy bears online and at charity shops you could see if they have weighted blankets. I have seen weighted blanklets and toys at op shops at bargain prices.

Hey Everyone! (new posters are always welcome too!)

Hello Patches....Can you let me know what a 'weighted' teddy bear is? I have no idea even though I tried to answer your post two weeks ago the best I could.

Hugs always

Paul

Quirky, now that you say that, I think you're right actually. I may even have a weighted teddy bear myself, I feel like they were quite popular when I was a lot younger - I just didn't know that's what they were called. Charity or op shops may sell the older ones, and Kmart or Big W may be good for newer ones depending on what exactly you're after. I had a look on Amazon and they seem to have a range of them too.

Eagle Ray, how good is Thai food!! Pad Thai is always my go-to. Roti is also fantastic - unfortunately it's not gluten-free, although I'm sure there would be gluten-free variations of it.

Hi Fiatlux, inspiring again with the food creations.  Banana bread with walnuts sounds fab - and I second (third) the opinions of Eagle Ray and sbella02 - Thai food is fabulous.

I'm dying to know what a weighted teddy bear is - and hope the search is successful.

Hope everyone's week has been pleasant.

SB, Pad Thai is often a go-to for me too. The other night I did go to the Thai place for dinner and I had the prawn Pad Thai which was seriously yummy 😋 While I’m allergic to dairy I just have some gluten intolerance but not a gluten allergy, so I can consume a bit of gluten from time to time without significant effects. So I could probably eat Roti.

I hope all is well with everyone 🤗Patches, I hope you are finding some success in your search for a weighted teddy bear. I definitely feel the need for comfort at times and wonder if something like that would help me.

I’m thinking about food again. I recently had some delicious fish tacos 🌮 I’ve been in the city staying in a high density urban area and I’m spoilt for food choices!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day/evening 💖

I love Thai fish cakes and pad Thai and deep fried tofu yum.

Hi Blondguy,  weighted teddy bear is a soft cuddly bear that has been made to weigh approx 2kg.  Known benefits are helps calm adults and children.  Hugging one the brain produces serotonin and dopamine.  My psychologist has prescribed meds for me at night as I have problems sleeping.  Weighted teddy bear, or other toys, are known to help the person feel calm and assists with relaxing to get to sleep quicker

Patches

Hey Patches

Thankyou for helping me out re the definition of weighted...as where teddy bears are  concerned! I have a teddy that I hold when I am really stuck Patches. Its not weighted yet it has Harrods London embroidered on the paw!

I always feel better after a cuddle with ted.

Its an individual choice for yourself or anyone....Please call me Paul instead of blondguy. When I signed up in 2016 I was in a bad place and after trying several screen names to sign up..I settled on blondguy as I just really wanted some support at the time and it has stuck now!!

I'll answer to anything Patches 😀 More importantly , you have always provided heartfelt support to new and existing members/champions on our National forums for a long time now.

Thanks Champ!

Paul

Hi Paul,

The original Patches is a small toy bear that I bought from an op shop decades ago when I was in a bad place.  I named it Patches due to the different colours used when it was made.  Many a dark day I’ve held it in my arms, this has led to it starting to fall apart at the seams literally.  I’ve read where other people with mental health issues find comfort in cuddling soft toy and articles about benefit of cuddling with the weighted soft toys at night.

life has been, and still is, having its ups and downs especially the last 4 to 6 weeks.  Yesterday was first day I feel ive stepped out of survival mode and started living again…. 2 days spent slowly reorganising my garage.  Croquet and mahjong tomorrow in between few other things.  Might try to research weighted teddy bears on Wednesday and chat with my therapist on Friday
