The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Ozzy died earlier today (AUS time). He was a singer that I grew up with in the 80s by listening to his music. Some of his later stuff I didn't much care for. His death has left me feeling a little bit empty. Some of his music resonated with me, the rest I liked for other reasons. So ... tonight i am listening to some of the earlier stuff again...

Hi smallwolf,
I thought of you when I heard about Ozzy. I thought you would have listened to him in the 80s. I always feel impacted when a musician passes whose music I have followed, even if I've only done so for a while or haven't been up with their latest. After people like David Bowie, Prince and Tom Petty died, I found myself going back over their careers and listening to songs and interviews. Sometimes I end up learning a lot more about them than I knew before. I might listen to some Ozzy before I go to bed tonight myself.

Hi Eagle... I'm amazed on Youtube how many people have created something in memory of Ozzy.
It's funny what people might learn about another if they take the time to listen to what the other is saying - whether it is in a song or otherwise. I'd better step down from my soapbox.
As an aside... someone at work brought a homemade hummingbird cake - it has banana, pineapple and some sort of nut in it. Really yummy!

Hi smallwolf,
I did end up watching some Ozzy clips from the 70s and 80s. It was good to reminisce. I realised he was connected to some songs I didn't even realise were him, they were just songs I'd heard somewhere along the way.
The hummingbird cake sounds delicious! Today I was naughty and ate a chocolate-coated doughnut with sprinkles on it. I'm not supposed to have dairy or gluten really, but I can get away with the occasional treat. I really just wanted a cinnamon doughnut at the bakery but they had run out, so the chocolate icing was a bit sweet for my liking but still very yummy. A much larger town that's a bit of a drive from here does have a business that does gluten and dairy free doughnuts, so I must check out their doughnuts sometime, or make my own! The doughnut I ate today looked just like this emoji 🍩

daughter and I have donut Tuesday... there is a GF store close to home and towards the end of each Tuesday i get some for daughter and one for self. I think these ones are really good considering they are GF. And I do actually think they are better than places like donut king.

Yum 😋 I’m guessing they have a variety of types of GF donuts. I don’t think I’ve ever had one from Donut King, only from bakeries. It’s a good idea having something like Donut Tuesday as it keeps the slightly naughty food to just one day a week, but it’s something to look forward to. I still have great memories as a kid eating jam and cream donuts on a holiday. When you are a kid you burn up all the fat and sugar of course!

Went today and arrived a little too late 😞
None of the iced ones left! Only a small cup of small ball like ones (cinnamon). I was given those. But we also came to some sort of agreement (?) that some will be kept aside each Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

That would be disappointing smallwolf! It's lovely though if they are able to keep some aside for you as a regular customer. I hope you get the ones you like this Tuesday 🤞
I think I'm going to research how to make my own gluten and dairy free donuts 😋 One thing about not living near large population centres is there is less readily available, so it makes me think about how to make things myself. I've never tried to make donuts before so it will be a new discovery.

Wife and I spent a few days by ourselves in the mountains and away from home. We got back on the weekend. Did a little wine tasting, toured a small coffee plantation and tasting there also.
Will be good to find out how you go with your GF cooking...

Hi smallwolf,
That sounds like a lovely trip to the mountains. It’s really good to get away. The wine tasting and coffee tour and tasting sound relaxing.
Two and a half years ago I did a short barista course. As part of it they showed a video of all the stages of coffee growing and processing. It made me appreciate it so much and I learned just how much goes into making a proper cup of coffee too.
I’ll let you know if I manage to produce some gluten free donuts. I have lots of lemons on my tree at the moment so I might look at how to incorporate them somehow 🍋🍩 Lemon does go well with cinnamon. I’m thinking of pancakes now and making myself hungry 😋
