Dear MK, ER and all~
"Oh let’s play leap over the walrus"
There are many hurdles in life, but I'm not one of them - you two are!
Actually being serious for a moment I think the two of you combine to invent plots and descriptions that would appeal to children
You are welcome to chase the ferrets -and the trousers - but please be careful of the inebriated kiwis, they have already been bowled over by the ferrets.
There are some fun books for adults, the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy springs to mind straight away.
I hope your respective snoozes went well

Hello dear Quirky, Croix and MK,
Yes, Quirky, please join in if you would like! Don’t mind the walrus. I don’t think he’ll really feed you to mmMeKitty. Just look out for those toppled kiwis.
Ah, yes Croix, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is an excellent fun book for adults. I’m sure there are many. I think I’ve read too many serious adult books in recent times.
MK, I am with fluffy cat tonight. Her owner had left her litter tray at her partner’s house, so I had to go to Big W for kitty litter and litter tray. It’s so lovely to be around the fluff ball again. She’s snoozing on her favourite chair at the moment.
Now what next can you, Quirky and me get up to? Hee hee!

Dear ER~
I went though a phase of studying all I could about mental health and my own welfare, at the same time the fiction I read was not light.
Your saying" I think I’ve read too many serious adult books in recent times" reminded me.
I certainly think that is something one can actually do, maybe the gloom feeds on itself. To have a lighter side to balance all else is -at least for me - important.
As an example once in a psych ward a kind nurse gave me a stack of humorous adolescent's book, they made a real difference and took me away from all the angst in htat place for hours at a stretch.
Having fun is important, which is why I use Worst Joke Wednesday (even on a Thursday) and muck around with you folks. I also started Store your happy memories here for much the same reasons, to provide relief in a place that is mostly dark
If you want a quote how about:
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" ᴵ

Hello everyone
Quirky, I think Croix has mentioned the only rule you need be even a tiny bit mindful of - but if you keep yummy food in your pockets, you will be perfectly safe, so long as you are quick enough to give it to LRC. I swear, that LRC really does have old-fashioned hollow legs & an iron stomach.
Wonder if 'Hitch-hikers Guide ..." ever was published as a picture book? Maybe with pop-ups .. if no-one has, I think that would be a great idea.
What I would most like for Xmas: a Babelfish, but not only for spoken languages. I want it to read written languages to me too, & body language, oh yeh, cool!
I forget - does anyone know what's in it for the Babelfish?
I'm sure GFC appreciates a brand-new litter box & fresh litter.
Really tired tonight, Surprised I got through everything I had to do, much of it unplanned.
Hugzies to you all
mmMekitty
Hurdling is for widthwise, while lengthwise is for ski jumping - from tail-end to top of head, then "Wheeeeeee!" *splat* & roll about laughing.

Hi Croix MK, Quirky and All,
Croix, the nurse in the psych ward sounds like she knew just what you needed. I think anything that produces laughter, even a small chuckle, starts to change our nervous system, body chemistry etc. It’s amazing what it can do.
Right now I’m staying in the city and have spent some time today and yesterday with my friend’s 6 month old baby. She is so delightful and just being in the same room as her is a spark of joy. She is so in wide-eyes and fascinated by everything and a happy little being 🥰
And then I am also looking after a cat with the most hilariously grumpy face. It is impossible not to chuckle. She’s really not that grumpy. She actually likes to go for walks and has her own special cat lead! So around 7am this morning I was out with her. Let’s just say it’s much less straight forward than walking a dog. She will meander in anything but a straight line, and then decide to plonk herself in a certain spot and not move for some time. A car pulling out of a driveway this morning meant picking her up from her decided sitting spot was necessary, though the protest meows were not too dramatic.
Emotionally I’ve had a very difficult few days for a number of reasons, but time with my friend, her gorgeous baby and a grumpy looking cat who makes you laugh has been a great antidote.
MK, I had to look up what a Babelfish is. One that can read both written languages and body language sounds like a great invention waiting to happen.
You have left me with an image of a cat ski jumping. I’m always terrified when I see people skiing on the Winter Olympics. It seems to defy anything that a human is naturally meant to be doing. But with the special skill cats have of always landing on their feet I feel much more ok with the mental image of a cat flying through the air, wearing goggles and strapped to a pair of skis 😂 I’ll go and ask GFC what she thinks about ski jumping cats.
Bye for now,
ER

ER, the babelfish is from The Hitch-hikers' Guide to the Galazy. It's a small yellow fish that one puts into one's ear & it will translate any language heard. Saves bothering with all the high-tech mumbo-jumbo when you can just stick a babelfish in your ear.
As a cat, I need two pairs of skis & although, no matter what, I land on my feet, in snow it still sounds likes 'splat'.
I tried to get Mekitty used to wearing a harness & lead, so I might take her for walks. I couldn't keep up with her, wanting to run, upstairs & down, up a tree, & down the other side between branches ... I simply couldn't follow her everywhere she wanted to go. Or, as you know, she might sometimes prefer to simply sit, watching everything, or having a wee nap. For her, it was the middle of the lawn. I never got her to walk up the road with me.
I've had a tough day again, too. I've had both support workers needing days off. One for family & the other for illness.
I had to talk to my GP on the phone & today he seemed in a rush. i didn't get to talk about everything I had listed to ask about today. I had to do online food shopping , too, & then the neighbours ... Oh, & I had to cancel next Monday's hydrotherapy, & I didn't get to the gym today & will not tomorrow ...
I feel exhausted this evening.
& I was trying to catch up on a programme on iview & when I tried to watch the browser shut-down, including the other open window where I had my list of audiobooks waiting for me to go back to after - three times! I had to go & re-select the books I wanted to listen to three times today.
I think I must be feeling as grumpy as GFC looks.
So, tonight, I think it best if I curl up in my hammock above Croix's fireplace, & snooze.
Hugzies

Dear MK,
That does sound like a really trying day. I’m so sorry you’ve missed out on all those things - hydrotherapy, gym etc. I know you look forward to them and how you feel good from the exercise. And it’s so terribly frustrating when we are rushed through doctors appointments and don’t get to ask all the questions. I really empathise with all those challenges. Technology always conspires to go against us at such times too, doesn’t it! I can only hope for you that tomorrow brings a better day.
Ah, the Babelfish, I remember now! I have forgotten quite a few details from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I looked up Babelfish and got this definition about it being a translator, but still didn’t twig.
I just realised one of my sentences above didn’t make sense. I think it must have been a weird autocorrect thing, speaking of troublesome technology. I know there was quite a funny book called Damn You Autocorrect, about all kinds of hilarious rewording that went into people’s texts and emails, often not apparent to them until the receiver responded with mirth or confusion.
GFC has just meowed to go outside in the front courtyard so I just let her out (she can’t get out of there over the fence, though I imagine some super agile cats might be able to). She likes to commune with the evening atmosphere. She has done epic sleeping today as usual, this time in a pot plant!
I hope you have a really good sleep in the hammock MK and awaken refreshed for the new day tomorrow.
Take care and good night all,
ER

Dear MK, with a wave to ER
How nice, I never realized that hammock over my fireplace was for you, you are most welcome to snooze there.
You asked "whats in it for the Babel fish?" Well, the Babel fish feeds on brainwave energy from those around it which it then excretes into the mind of its carrier, very useful.
You wanna quote? "Every time I feel like exercising I lie down quietly until the feeling passes" not sure if authorship has been settled.
I found under the old Forum I had to save the page every few minutes whilst writing or when it crashed I'd lose everything, perhaps you can do the same wiht tabs full of info, then delete the files when no longer needed. (Sorry if I'm teaching grandma how to suck eggs)
