Dear Moon~

when you bowl I can almost hear the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd from here.

Actually the hard part is already over, you have stepped up to the plate (another sporting metaphor)  and conquered your natural doubts and are proving to yourself the luminous old Moon did not shine quite as brightly as the current one.

If you have two matches in the one day ( not unknown) don't forget to save a little of yourself for the second.

Thanks Croix....not two in one day thank God, although I did that when I was younger and stronger.....can't bear the thought of that now....I see others who have to and think "you poor things you must be so tired..."   but youth and old age are very different, that has come as a surprise to me because I feel the same!!  Frustrating.  BUT.....so far I am having a wonderful time, the roar and the smell are incredible and I've been filled with gratitude for giving me this chance as my swansong cannot be far off...perhaps it is this one, so at least I will go out with a bang not a whimper......hoping life contains the occasional moment of fabulousness for you too these days....Moon S

Dear Moon (and all)

What swansong? Are you thinking of combining Swan Lake wiht Bizet's Carmen? You'll have the cygnets dancing to the toreador song.

A bowler can dream after all.

"Seriously folks" some people do not have a swansong, they continue all their lives, so thoughts of bowing out are in all probability premature.

Do you have any plans on publishing your diary?  While alas we here will never know due to our anonymity rules I'm sure the general public would be after it in droves

Croix....re my diary...or journal I prefer to call it.   Kept since a teenager I have piles of notebooks and my son reckons I am sitting on a goldmine...I told him he was welcome to publish it after I am gone if he likes...would make a fortune.  If I had the time and inclination I guess I could edit and condense it to a publishable stage but "can't be bothered".

It has crossed my mind that my darling boys may prefer not to read some entries....I hope nothing in there upsets them .....but then they may just hurl them into the rubbish bin.....who knows?  They are pretty revealing, deep and thought provoking that is for sure.

I find it interesting to see "who I was" etc years, months, even weeks earlier and how I dealt with things...if I'd changed e.g. some people or situations that caused me such pain, or thrilled me to bits etc...now have an entirely different effect.    Thoughts and emotions that feel like they would last forever....don't.    Yes it is sensational reading....(I'm a good writer Croix if you hadn't picked up on that!!!!    Just lazy.

Dear Moon , wit a wave to all~

I think it would make an excellent publication as it covers a lo of transformations in the bowling arena and may bowlers of fame.. I also think that any (auto) biography firstly needs a professorial to lick it into shape (that way you can be lazy:) and at the same times leaves in a rounded view of hte person, not just the parts you prefer.

Not only does it give your family an accurate view of the problems and wins you have had, but may even serve as an encouraging example for those facing similar difficulties.

Croix (everyone knows walruses can't write so no autobiography from me:)

Croix.....I did it!    Great success...I feel I have had some sort of "epiphany".  sort of what all the stuff that has been getting me down in recent past - death of partner, loneliness, boredom, old age (that is still ongoing unfortunately, no cure found yet!). has a sort of new twist...a sort of reminder that I am still the same brilliant young person I always was.....somewhere deep down in the very depths of myself...for a brief while I was allowed to touch her, see her, be celebrated by others just for being "her"....I hope I don't lost touch with her completely again!   How lucky was I that Fate or something, sent me this?..(wish you'd been there, you'd have loved it!). Dear Moon~

I wish I'd been there too.

I guess the essential you has always been there, complete with abilities and bravery. Anxiety, grief, loneliness and old age are sort of cloaks on top, hiding the real you from you until you cast them aside whilst bowling, then you can see you have not changed underneath.

yes, I am aware old age has lots of downsides, however it alps imparts experience and wisdom. You will wonder less about you being the real you less now.

Croix....the quote doesn't really sound like "guess who" does it..do you think?  I think some of his most brilliant and amusing ones were mostly contained in the one play...Importance of being Earnest...what do you think?

Dear Moon~

Actually he did say a slightly shortened  version of this to Mr Worthing in TIOBE, unfortunately I forget where the full version originated - Dorian Gray perhaps?

Not very witty I agree, however like much of his insight into life it is true and I thought fit the moment..

Which reminds me now the tournament is over has your hair turned quite gold from grief?
