Does anyone like soft murder shows like Death in paradise, Broken wood Mystery , Granchester, Midsommer Murders etc etc.
I find them calming as they are often over the top and unreal. I also like.
I read serous non fiction not fiction so like soft murder shows to unwind.

I understand what you mean Quirky....I only read non fiction...the only fiction I get into is Agatha Christie's murder mysteries for the reasons you stated. I also love the various mini series of her books on Tv e.g. Miss Marple ones, Hercule Poirot etc.
there have been several actresses playing Miss Marple....one in particular I don't like at all so I prefer the others...all pure escapism though.
I loved Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren too....I have a lot of the dvd s...

Dear Moon, Quirky and all~
I particularly like the David Suchet series of Hercule Poirot, it suited him down ot a T and he really made the role breath.
In fact when I saw him as the villain in the TV movie Going Postal it felt weird to see him portraying anyone else. mmMekity you may like this movie if you have not seen it already, it is an adaptation of the Terry Pratchett novel of the same name.
Tayla your avatar is certainly a change of pace, from YM to Hydrangeas? Are you watching anything in particular at the moment?

I also like Hercule Poirot when played by da ud suchet. Croix I saw him a Tele movie thst was made into a musical about Planes being diverted to an airport in Canada on 9/11.
called Diverted, David Suchet was a father whose son was missing in 9\11
many women have played Miss Marple , one of my favourites was Geraldine McEwan who played her 2004 to 2008.

Hi Croix, & all. 😺
'Going Postal' the movie was on tele, once or twice, as have a few others. I get a whole lot more from the books. There are some scenes I would love to (if I still really could) see recreated in film. Using modern techniques, I imagine all would be possible to show in film - as improbable as they may seem.

Hydrangeas, you say? (thanks Croix), a fine flower, which changes depending on the acidity/alkalinity ratio? That one, is it?

Quirky...isn't that strange...Geraldine was my least favourite Miss Marple....didn't like her all.....wheras I loved the other two.....their names escape me at the moment.....it could have something to do with seeing Geraldine years before in a movie when she played a horrible sadistic, cruel Nun in charge of a girls' home or something....she was a ghastly character...and I think I've associated that face with that horrible nun ever since.
Dont think anyone can top David Suchet as Poirot..not even Peter Ustinov, Kenneth Branagh, Albert Finney....who all played him in movies......
do you realise we are highjacking Croix' thread....he doesn't seem to mind, probably sitting back by the fire in his armchair shaking his head and smiling at everyone's rambling.....{ sorry Croix)

I think the point of Croix’s thread is to give people space to write about what they want.
croix likes David Suchet too.
I never liked Brad Pitt after his character caused Thelma and Louise to be criminals as he took their money.
Geraldine was sweet as miss maple and sharp as a tack.
waves to Croix in leather bound arm chair .

Dear All (with a wave back to Quirky)
Croix Parler is here for you all to talk to me (or each other) about whatever you like, though preferably not toooo serious (though that has happened a few times when it was needful).
So no you are not hi-jacking anything (sorry mmMekitty, I'm sure you enjoyed that guilty feeling 🙂
Yup in my arm chair, though Sumo has disappeared for a while, 'busy' elsewhere no doubt. No fire though, that will come soon enough.
I've often been compared wiht Alistair Cookie who also uses a wing-backed armchair, you can get an idea here:-
