Hi Tayla😸, & Croix😸, & everyone, 😸
I wasn't feeling mentally well today, so, after having lunch, I have been listening to some Terry Pratchett. Not the same sort of Brittish Comedy, but I think he wrote many very fine books. What I really like most is he wrote not only for the laughs but had also explored social structures & culture, history, myths & mythology, religion too, All sorts of things - it is hard to sum up. Today I wanted him to take me away from the serious, into another place & time, & to indeed, put a smile on my face. & he has done that, 😺even from at least 25 years ago! Neat trick, huh?

Dear Tayla~
I'm currently re-watching the Kenny Everett Video Show, from Thames Television 1979-81 (not the later BBC series)
Certainly not terribly politically correct, but am enjoying Captain Kremmen, Sid Snot, Angry from Mayfair and all the rest. This is after reading Cleo Rocos' account of Kenny's life "Bananas Forever: Kenny Everett and Me", which made his antics a little more poignant.
As mmMekitty says putting a smile on my face after 40 years is a pretty neat trick (and all in the best possible taste)

The book I was reading was 'Feet of Clay' first published 1995, I think I read, before I knew of him, & he certainly didn't know what I might need in my reading material, & that I would need it in 2022, , after his departure from this world... somehow this seems rather amazing to me. Did he have anyone like me in mind when writing his books?
When I'm writing my own fiction & poetry I don't have any idea of 'reader' in mind. I think if I did , I would over-think what I'm writing.

Ha, I remember Kenny Everett when it was on tele for a while... oh my, un-pc but I dare say not as un-pc as Benny Hill! (I couldn't stand him, except for "....& he drove the fastest milk cart in the west". So please don't remind me of any more...oh, my brain will toss up some fragments I wish it would toss out - as not fit for recycling. 😿

Dear mmMekitty~
I would not dream of mentioning things that in any way distress. Instead will steer the conversation towards books and writing.
I guess there two types of authors, those that do it for money, such as Tom Clancy, and I'm sure they do have an audience in mind, and those that write becuse it is inside themselves and needs to come out. If that clicks with a reader so much the better, but not needful.
How do you feel about Philip K Dick, one of the latter? Not humorous but explores a wide range.
Maybe also I'll mention one of my favorite radio programmed (my apologies if I've talked about it before). It is Tales of Lake Wobegon, broadcast for decades on Minnesota Public Radio. It follows the lives of those living in a small town, poking gentle fun at human frailties, rural life and religion.
It is no longer in production but the episodes are available in it's archives.

AS far as old tele shows go, don't fret none. 😸Indeed, let me deal with whatever might be distressing to me. This is how I am learning to manage what goes on in my head & with my emotions, even the worst which comes along.
Nothing, so far, has finished me off, yet. 😺 Sure I might have thought so, but in reality, here I am! 😺
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️to share, all round the place...

Dear mmMekitty~
Sure you may be able to deal with things that upset, and I read in your other thread that you were deliberately estimating what you could do, and what was currently beyond your reach - all pretty wise.
I guess what I want to say is that you do not have to do this process alone, if others know a particular thing is going to need a lot of 'managing' on your part then tending to avoid that thing is a way of helping. Not to never refer to anything, but to cooperate with you.
That would never mean you had nothing to have to deal with - there's always going to be something anyway - , just you can have the knowledge that others do want you to develop robust defences, but at the same time do not wish to throw you in at the deep end
Does that make sense?

I'm delighted you are on a bowling team once again, as you say it really is a tonic for you, and thanks for letting me know.
Incidentally you don't need luck, I'm sure you were selected on your very considerable talents and will amaze everyone

Hahahh You are in my tele, actually; it's my monitor when I am using my PC. 😺
I know what you mean, Croix. My own self threw me into the deep end long ago, it's just that I have been learning to swim ever since.

Excuse me, Croix, 😸
Hey, 😺Tayla? You back? I can't see much of what is in this profile picture. Have you been playing with a picture of some flowers?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️& there's a lot more ready to ripen any day now!
