Dear DB et al.~

Oh dear you were listening after all 😞 Sadly I think your slow careful speak is just as hard to understand (what do you expect from a walrus anyway?)

Foxy Dog is locked in the kitchen at the moment and Sumo Cat is sitting beside me purring - which is loud enough to be distracting. Dunno where Nasty Cat has skulked off to. We are enjoying the wood fire, blowing and raining outside. Nothing like being snug. I'm sitting in a wing-backed chair doing my Alistair Cookie impression:) (see YouTube if you have never come across Monsterpiece Theater.)

Talking of flute music, do you like the solo in California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas ?

You take care too DB

Heya yeah we're pretty patient in Oz, ya know the language thing but hey some ones gotta teach em 😃

Ohh that sounds so snug, I love the cooler mths, not being cold but cooler and things like that and extra blankets way cosier. Sleepings easier too I think

No I havent heard much flute except these couple of cds I think we may have scored garage saling or a friend moving and Grandy mentioned through I think Tony about Leo Rojas. I'll check yours out.

It's such a peaceful amazing sound love it. And birdies singing too ☺

Thank you re me taking care too

Hope your days good 🕊

Hi Croix et al

Ah, the sound of a purring cat. Nothing more relaxing and peaceful, unless it's not intended as a relaxation. I've heard they have 2 types of purrs, one when they are feeling swoony and the other when they're cranky. I think I've learnt to distinguish between the 2.

Sitting next to a fire place sounds wonderful. (A little jealous actually.) Never gets cold enough here.

Yes, the flute is beautiful DB. Unfortunately I had a bad relationship with it. I could hear every wrong note, every bad timing. The harder I practised the worse it became. Had I known then that it was anxiety, I could have probably done something. Anyway. I love listening to it, including California Dreaming (Mamas and Papas), as well as Pink Floyd. I used to jam along while listening to their LPs. Loved the works of James Galway too. Bolero, well definitely unable to play sorry Croix. But it is awesome, extremely powerful. I have seen it performed and it truly evoked lots of emotions.

Also Manu Chao. Aren't they the best!! Have 2 of their albums. Clandestino and Bongo Bong.

Theatre Croix, oh yes! Loved the local theatre companies in a few cities I've been in. Always supported them by going to their productions. Not musicals though...ugh. Can't stand them. Drama, comedy - all okay. I remember going to see Hamlet and there was a work colleague in the cast. Shakespeare is funny from my perspective. During the performance you'd hear me LOL. Well, the next day my work colleague gave me what for, about my laughter. He wasn't too bad about it and truthfully I didn't care, because to me it was funny.

Since I arrived back in the city I'm living now, I've not been to a production. Correction, local theatre company production. Saw a Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the city's major theatre. Just been too busy. Haven't had time to organise myself to get to a local production. Hopefully I make time for this in the future. Always loved them.

I'm absolutely sure i've seen Mona Moi. Hilarious. I'll have a look at the Worth1000 site. Sounds good.

Isn't Amélie just one of the best French movies you'd hope to see. Exquisite, very poignant. Have you ever seem Smilla's Feeling for Snow? Loved it! Read the book too - beautiful thriller story set in Copenhagen and Greenland.

Photography of Vivian is truly special. Such a social history and story she captured through the lens. I try to make some of my photography artistic, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Depends on how I am that day.

Sumo Cat only purrs because pleased, Nasty Cat hisses and would not dream of purring under any circumstances. Has mastered the baleful glare.

I can’t say I ever found the Big Bill that funny, and unless done very well I am ashamed to say a tad on the lengthy side for me. Everyone wants to be Hamlet:(

Actually wanabees that do vanity pieces can be a pain. So often the original cannot be surpassed, everything from 12 Angry Men to The Taking of Pelham 123 (though the 3rd remake was OK) to Psycho.

We do seem to have something in common, I’m not keen on most musicals either, though I do enjoy The Rocky Horror Show, plus of course light opera (G&S).

I did see Smilla's Feeling for Snow a long time ago, have not read the book. Much better than the recent The Snowman, which was a little graphic for me. If you like Amélie try MicMacs by the same director if you have not already.

You may have some difficulties finding Worth100 as it was swallowed up by a larger concern, though I believe the original work is still in there somewhere.

DB: ta for the language lesson:) I used to like garage sales too, though not so much opportunity recently, still do op-shops though. So much is thrown away it's silly.

I'd agree wiht you about the peace in music, and also find sound effects of the sea and waves, plus rain on he roof, the very best things.

Once again I'm snug in front of the fire, though Sumo has wandered off looking for cat biscuits.

Croixy Pammy and all 🤕 Ms halarious here I have a migraine hence the bandaged head emoji 🙃 yip that's about how it is ☺

Croixy your welcome re lingo lesson, hey some ones gotta do it 😄

I don't like musicals either although I recorded Olivia Newton John. She seems a genuinely lovely grounded tough lady.

I watched again last night taking of Pelham 123, pretty much anything Travoltas in I enjoy if it's not too heavy in story, liked him in the one where the stars did something mentally to him and he gained psych abilities. Pammy I don't watch as much action these days but do like it, I tend to enjoy dramas true stories martial arts and sci fi still watch Star trek voyager tho I've seen most.

Got a couple of Janet Evanovich bounty hunter books love her she's brilliant easy reading think we spoke of her Pammy (hope you're back on deck huns 🤗😚)

Yes Croixy op shoppings pretty much as good as garage saling, I might be able to gee up a couple to put petrol in and go occasionally again it is crazy what some get rid of. You here about fortunes people make from some, how'd ya be not knowing and selling it for a penny 😲 🤤 😭

I don't listen that often to music but am starting to suss relaxing meditational which reminds me to add to a thread sometime a very peaceful and scientifically proven to be one of the best in that genre. I like varied stuff not opera either tho what talent.Music brings peace and happiness, surfaces emotions and sparks memories of good times. Yes sea waves lovely, and rain on roofs comforting isnt it. Birdies too are probs up there with flute for me.

I feel your cosyness in front of the fire 🔥and like your references to Sumo, mmm suss on other one, I love the affection from puddy tats their look and softness

Hope you're doing well Croixy man and all listening

Best rest this swine of a head, nigh nite 😊or morning I should say

Peace wished 🌹

Dear DB et al.~
I hope that migraine has departed, they are pretty crippling.

I’m glad you enjoyed Pelham 123, though I have to say it was Denzil Washington’s character I liked the best, he has a very human flaw which is a nice change in a lead character. It had a happy ending so all was well. I’d guess that movie you were talking about must have been Phenonemon, though in it Travolta’s character dies if I remember right:(

I’ve never taken him too seriously since I saw him as the dumb punk Vinnie Barbarino in Welcome Back Kotter.

Star Trek is pretty good, though just the one series, Deep Space Nine never really appealed. Too close to Babylon 5 I thought. My favorite character would be "Emergency Medical Hologram Mark I" played by Robert Picardo in Voyager.

Do you like comedy martial arts movies like Shanghai Knights with Jackie Chan, or do you prefer more serious like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with Michelle Yeoh?

I find the fight scenes in all of them improbable. They remind me of the terrible special effects in the 60’s TV series Shintaro The Samurai, where the film was run backwards to make ninja seem to jump into tall buildings. Still it was an interesting sight into medieval Japan.

Sumo Cat and fire are present again, a cold still night outside.

Dear Croix et al

DB hope the head is better. Can't recall if I saw Pelham123.John Travolta's generally not on my list of too watch, however, I did like him in Pulp Fiction.

Croix, that fire is sounding good as does Sumo Cat's purring. It's such a shame it doesn't really get cold enough here for a fire. They are rather nice. Also Jackie Chan is a favourite of mine. Especially like the marital art comedies. Recently saw him in a movie where he's getting really old.... Obviously it's not up there like his older ones because I can't even remember what it's about, let alone it's name.

I avoided going to see the Snowman, the trailers put me off.

Going camping next week dahhh, it is going to be cold. How stupid is that. Paid for already unfortunately otherwise I'd cancel. Might see if I can upgrade our accommodation.

Snowflake is sitting on hubby's knee and Peggy is warming the bed up.

Kind regards

Dear PamelaR et al.~

Going camping in the winter was always one of my favorites. We'd settle by the sea and have lovely camp-fires at night. Being on the beach it was much warmer than inland and best of all there was never anyone there. I once made the mistake of going back to the same place in the summer, it was horrible. People, radios and kids on mini-trail bikes everywhere.

We often got fish without fishing. The beach was very long and flat, and the tide went out for an awful long way. Amateur fishermen with beach nets used to come, drive way out on the sand and start netting. Quite often before they knew it the incoming water was softening the sand under their wheels and we'd pull them out with a (very) long rope. While we refused money fish were welcome (and eaten).

So good luck with the accommodation upgrade - a caravan perhaps?

No if I'd known what Snowman was like I would not have gone. One scene set me right back. I did like Pulp Fiction, I thought the best line was the reforming hit man Jules saying he was going though a "transitional period"

Another of my Muppet Pictures is of a black wigged cigarette smoking Ms Piggy in the movie poster Uma Thurman pose entitled Plump Fiction.

Dear Croix et al

Yes, just one scene is enough to set you back. I watched the final of Harrow last Friday and one scene in that set me off for the whole weekend. It takes so long to wind down.

So comedies are good, Ms Piggy in Plump Fiction sounds awesome! A must see.

Will let you know what happens with the camping. I feel like a wimp. We're going inland though near a dam. There's an airshow hubby is wanting to go to for photography. I didn't want him driving all that way on his own, so I compromised and said I'd go. I'll amuse myself around the dam.

Yes, that line in Pulp Fiction was the best!

Well, think it's time to turn off. Don't answer all the posts 🙂 (Leave some for me)

Kind regards

Dear Croix 😊

I hope this not uncool to ask, but if you had the chance /time, could you give me a helping hand with The Hulk? I really feel a wise word from the walrus might help ... of course, no pressure, and please ignore this if I'm way too uncool for skool.

From your fan,
