Dear DB~
Well, Croixy reminds me of Roxy Music, so that's OK. Thanks for thinking of me, I've been a bit busy and not popped in to talk with you, though I think you are talking a fair bit with Pepper, Karen and SN and all, pretty good.
I noticed you mentioned Starwolf, someone I like very much, however I've not seen here here for a while now. People come and go I guess.
I've a new dog (Foxy Dog) who is on the whole pretty good, but thinks cats are an excuse to play chases (the cats disagree and are most upset). Foxy came from the pound and now owns the place - typical.
I hope you are managing ok too

Hiya Croix
Good to see the resident walrus is travelling okay. I'd been wondering about you. I read a post yesterday that I raised my eyebrows at, it gave me the impression perhaps everything wasn't so good.
Great to hear you have a new pet. Foxy Dog sounds cute, but, hmmm, poor cats. Do feel a little sorry for them. However, if they're anything like mine, they give as good as they get.
So, I just had to check. I don't have to worry about keeping things on track. LOL. Loved the opening post about things that don't fit elsewhere.
That's all. Just a quick check in to say hi and see you're doing okay.
Kind regards
PamelaR

Hello Croix,
I often read here, but not post much. But tonight I had to..
Thank you for purchasing and saving a dog from the pound..Foxy dog love the name, and when I read about foxy dog playing chasing with the cats , it brought a smile to my face...poor cats , but I'm sure the cats will put foxy dog in its place..but I doubt you will put foxy dog in its place, I can hear the love through your words for your new little dog.. I hope you both have some great times together..
Warm and caring hugs.
Grandy..

Dear PamelaR~
Thanks for checking, I'm not sure which post that was. I've some non MH hassles and they do unfortunately color my posts at times, but I'm OK.
Yes because this Forum does not have hte ability to flag a person's attention when I first stared I found it very difficult to contact anyone that did not have an active thread, so I started this one for others to talk wiht me, and it sort of grew. Prior to that I did not have one of my own.
I've happily enjoyed talking about the arts here, something a large number of people are interested in. It's given me a lot of pleasure following up their recommendations for songs, movies books and so on.
May I ask what sort of things you like?
You have been a bit quiet the last few days so I'm realy pleased to see you posting again

Dear Grandy~
I think animals from the pound are great, and with a very few exceptions all our animals have come from there. Both cats (Nasty and Sumo) plus Foxy Dog are all bitsas and probably more healthy because of it. I could never volunteer at the pound, it would be so sad. Unfortunately there never seem to be enough potential owners.
I"m not sure how long it will take the cats to pluck up courage and stand up to Foxy, she is very quick and agile (with big ears). The cats disappear under the bed and wait for me to explain to Foxy they do not want to play.
Now I come to think of it we do have one animal at the moment not from the pound, it is P.A.Possum. (P A stands for passive aggressive). I had to get rid of PA's tree as it was dangerous (I do not like getting rid of trees but like a squashed house even less.)
PA decided to take up residence in the roof of my workshop, which was sort of fair under the circumstances, however he insisted on knocking everything of the shelves. I explained this was not on, but PA just stared at me, and when I left went back and knocked everything off again.
We have not as yet reached a mutually agreeable arrangement.
Anyway Grandy nice to talk to someone without a NZ accent, at least I can understand (hope DB is not listening)

Dear Croix
Yes, you may ask away.
I'm very eclectic in my likes. To be honest, I'm not set to one type or one sort at all. The painting artists that I love include - Picasso, Van Gough, Dali (note the spanish influence 🙂 ). Not a great one for the modern art work, however, do like the works of Jeffrey Smart (saw his exhibition at the Yarra Valley Art Gallery some years ago), Russell Drysdale. You will find me at times wandering through art galleries around the place. Art work gives my soul a peace of mind. There is something very peaceful about it. I have two pieces in my place that we bought at one of the city's art galleries that we frequent when new exhibitions are launched. One is of a frog that is emerging into life of the rainforest. The other is a scene of spoonbills. Other pieces I have include - a possum, a gum tree. So you can see my tastes are all over the place.
I also very much love photography, have a few pieces up on our wall (including my own).
Love movies that make me laugh or use some of my adrenaline (action type movies). I'm much more inclined to watch productions from Britain, Europe and Asia, than from the US. I actually don't mind a sad French movie. But can't stand a Hollywood sad movie.
Ahh music. Give me classical these days. I do love live performances, though unable to afford it now. There was a period in my life I loved folk music and was very much in 'the scene'. I particularly was very fond of songs that had social significance. There were many by Judy Small, Eric Bogle, Silly Sisters, plus, plus, plus. Unfortunately my ears can pick up every wrong note these days and it's not pleasant. Folkies aren't know for their perfectionism. So classical it is.
I learnt classical flute and tried to transition to folk. LOL (that's all I can say). Tried the tin whistle and bodhran for awhile. Then more recently (in the past 6 years) started to play a digital keyboard. This was while I was recovering from my breakdown. Well, while I love the piano (and keyboard), I had to finally admit I would never become a proficient pianist. That's okay though, I then picked up a camera.
How about yourself. I'm sure you have lots of stories in your 16 pages of posts. Hmmm, can you give me a summary to help me out... please 🙂
Yes, I am happy I'm posting again. Just a slight hiccup.
PamelaR.

Hello Croix,
Thank you for your post.. We always got our dogs from pounds, except the two I have now..mummy and daughter..Never a angry growl between them..
I loved hearing about PA possum, it sounds adorablely mischevious, I hope you can work his living quarters out and teach him to tidy up after he finishes playing... you will no doubt miss PA Possum if he decides to move on..it sounds like you have some great times with your fur family..great memories are made from great times..
Thank you Croix for your time...and sharing your little fur family with me/ others..
Warm hugs,
Grandy..

Dear PamelaR et al.~
OK a potted view, totally misleading because there is simply too much.
Arts - well in painting I like Impressionism, things not always clearly stated, some of Turner or Monet would be a start. Mind you I like fun too, Ms Piggy as the Mona Lisa (entitled "Mona Moi")is the sot of whimsical humor I enjoy. There used to be a photoshop site called Worth1000 where people adapted all sorts of original images, some funny some serious.
Dali I like, actually I think one I really appreciate is his sister at the window, almost real and the harbor beyond reminds me of a place I grew up. Most of the art in my house is from my family and is pretty eclectic. I did manage to score three Mucha prints on astronomical figures (moon etc) which are quite large.
Don't like sad movies at all nowadays, happy endings rule:) Just watched Amélie for the umpteenth time. Will start re-watching some of Goddard's work soon if I feel brave (Alphaville, Tout va bien etc). I've a very large number of movies and TV shows plus books -need a larger house 😞
With live performances I like theater (studied drama for a little while) but prefer theater of the absurd, which is not that popular in a rural environment. As I've mentioned before Waiting for Godot is a favorite.
Songs about social things? well Manu Chao "Rainin' In Paradize" thought to Tom Waits "God's Away On Business" (the Muppet version is good too:)
Female flutist? perhaps Bolero Ravel played by Jane Rutter is good if a tad gentle, I once saw Russian dance group doing this piece, overwhelming.
Photographs, I can't even get a good shot of the pa possum:( I do like realistic social images, example Weegee. Looking at Vivian Maier atm. I do a fair amount of technical photography and digitization, but this is far removed from art.
I'm sure that is more than enough to be getting on with. Do you like theater?
