Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice
I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips
I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

Hi RX, also good to hear from you.
Did you go out on your boat, because I read this in Friday's paper:
'Canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can hit the water again after the Andrews Government amended its ban on recreational boating'
How did you go because eventually, it has to happen one way or another, but all of this is going to change circumstances?
Best wishes.
Goff.

the internet company is not being nice about giving me more weeks off
they say that i was only out of internet for 2 weeks, and they sent me a sim card with my sign up - which can be used in a smartphone or tablet til your internet is set up
I told them I don't have a smartphone or tablet, so Icouldn't use that at all.
Also, over the weeks I didn't have internet, they were completely unable to be contacted, except over social media (where they still replied every few days only and didn't help) - so I had to JOIN social media which I don't use to contact them

Hi Sleepy, RX and anyone else reading this thread, being without the net for 2 weeks and not able to access, it would be extremely difficult.
I would try the Ombudsman and see how you go.
Let us know and sorry I'm a bit late in replying.
Geoff.

Hi RX, I got it from the newspaper, and now the unlocking will slowly begin, eventually, you'll be free to use your canoe, if it's not sold.
For those who want to play golf and then those who try and catch a fish, not the one that got away, the time is approaching quickly, I know someone who will be so pleased.
Take care.

Hey Geoff.
Wondering have you ever done the re 'enameling , baths or basin. Wondering how it is and how long it'll last. Be great if l could just spruce mine up rather than exspense and work of replacing them , just to see the place. Suppose it comes in a spray can .
Also , my place has had 4 or 5 electric stoves the lady cross the road told me. The stove here when l came was only working on two hot plates n grill , rest wasn't working. Well l just put in another 2nd hd one few weeks back perfect con , but now one hot plate doesn't work and another one goes on but only about half power, was perfect . Wiring in looks normal , but somethings upsetting the stoves, ever heard of this , any ideas.
Didn't really wanna get an elec in unless l have to they charge 100 an hour round here.
Cheers mate , ps , hope your holding up ok.

Hi R, good to hear from you as well as the others.
I'm good thanks but also concerned about you, 2020 will go down in history as a phenomenal year, a time where my grandkids will remember as being able to stay home and probably not being able to understand the repercussions of this COVID-19 for a few years to come.
I haven't had to resurface or re-enamel a basin or bath while they have bn installed, but have done so whilst they have been outside.
I'm not sure whether or not you have a spray gun, but those tins of spray paint will OK, so is the basin metal or fibreglass?
Anyway use the black sandpaper with the webbing on the back, wet it and lightly rub them, give them a good wash, let them dry and paint with the tin of paint or spray gun.
My son has a boat, filled any holes with fibreglass and spray painted the whole boat, it looks magic.
It does take practice so the paint won't overlap and then lag, but please get back to me.
The hotplate only half working could be anything, the connections, the plate that's faulty, can you go back to where these replacement plates are sold and ask them, but it's not buying another plate if you think the stove has had its use by date, sorry, it would frustrate me as well.
Remember if you use the tin paint when you're finished turn the tin upside down and squeeze the trigger until all the paint has expired, it will only be a few seconds, this stops the can from blocking up.
Hope to hear back from you.
Geoff.

Gday Geoff , thanks for that but ahh , been spray painting for years so that parts not prob, just didn't know if it'd be worth bothering , you know if it'd last awhile or what and wear ok till l put new ones in,
Weth the stoves , what l meant there is there's something wring with the house wiring somewhere , feeding power to the stoves , like l say it's ruined 4 stoves and now it's ruining my new one.Ever had that problem.
Got a suspicion mice might've chewed the wiring in the wall maybe.
And thanks for the thoughts but nah l'm fine mate quite happy , lock downs not much different to me than life as usual bc l work at home anyway. And l'm lucky in that l'm in a great spot , lots of space and openess outside , go out anytime l want really no ones getting hassled up here . Just keep the distance.
Cheers mate

hi geoff,
The ombudsman were amazing they have told the internet comppany to follow up with me. Suddenly they have excellent service - (funny that) and have called me once on friday and once on saturday. I've decided not to deal with it on the weekend but will call them back on Monday and see if they can give me a helpful deal.
I hope they will, and any small bit helps.
it was very odd they took 20 dollars off this months internet bill, (they had said they would charge me in full). I don't know if that was a mistake or if they are trying to help. I'll have to see on Monday.
