Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice
I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips
I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

hi geoff, not sure if you remember my heating dramas with the agent telling me i wanst providing enough info to help her know where to install one?
I was very flat and gave up the fight, looking to move houses ultimately.
I did however keep on complaining about the existing unrelable heater, the point where today they have sent the aircon/heaater man to my place and he's finding somewheere to install it 🙂 thanks for ur advice, i never thought theyd get aorud to it and they were being awful and tiring. Not sure if theyll go ahead with it this time, but having the aircon tradesman over seemed a good start as they cant blame me for my pictures of the apt anymore, he had a (good) look with his own lovely eyes!!!

Hello RX, can you put a level on top of the tracks, if it's a small level then find something long enough on top, then the level on top of that, see what it tells you.
The other problem could be a dirty track or the wheels are damaged, love to see it.
One way to fix a jumpy floor is to cut a square in the floor next to where the problem is, then take the floor away, then you can find the stump causing the trouble, then there are a couple of ways to fix this.
If the stump has worn away, then you can replace this stump with a concrete stump, they are cheap and concrete it in, using 'rapid set' or 'quick dry concrete', attach the loop on the stump to a bearer, give it a day to fully dry, although a few hours could dry it, then replace the flooring.
If the flooring has dipped down then you may want to jack it up and pack it, again love to see it.
Well done RX on the canoe, I'm sure it looks fantastic.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Hello Sleepy, I'm sorry I had forgotten about it, but certainly recall it once you mentioned it again.
I know the problems you've had with the real estate, so where I live I'm friendly with the landlord and he has asked me to ring him if anything needs to be done, rather than go through the r/estate who always procrastinate and move in their own time.
Now the tradesman has been to your place, you have every right to ask when it's going to be installed, especially since winter has almost finished, but in spring the weather can still be wild.
Do you have the name and address of the tradesman?
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Hi Geoff, no worries that was sure a long time ago.
I had lost energy to fight it to be honest. Thanks for ur tip - so do u think I should avoid the real estate agent? I dont have the landlords info, but I sure do have the name and business and business address of the tradesman. It was the same one they sent way back when, and he seems mor aware of whats goig on.
He said the body corporate didn't like where we wanted to install it originally, and so he was sent to try out for an area with less traffic, unaccessible to the public and behind the flat.

Hi Geoff .
And thanks for that wish you could see it too . But anyway stumps yeah , not gonna worry about them now as l say.
Must admit l was pretty pleased with myself raising that front corner though for the new porch back when, turned out pretty good. That part also adjoined my daughters br too so her floor was near level again as well.
Yeah got plenty of spirit levels dunno how but l've wound up with 4 of them but anyway not gonna touch it further for now.
Thanks for your time mate, hope your doing ok.

Hello Sleepy, sometimes by contacting the tradesman may get the job done quicker, they want the business and you want the job done, whereas the landlord wants to keep a good tenant and it's in their interest to keep their property maintained.
Hi RX, I know of what you want to do but have a look at this 'polyurethane underpinning', it's used for slabs that have sunk but could be used for houses on stumps, I don't know, but if you have time, it might be curious.
Best wishes.

Thanks for that Geoff.
But ahhh, l'll leave it for now. Have plans for what l'll do to sell , but it can't be everything. Place looks as square, it isn't but it looks it , so close enough on that front, buyer would probably do a full reno anyway. But yeah right , once we went to look at a brick house that was sunken down in one corner , that was slab. The brick walls to that room had a 3-4 cm gaping crack running down the wall, nasty.
Bloody brand new 700 dollar mower won't start damn it , giving me enough grief atm. Can't take it back bought over the net , one of the problems with net buying isn't it. Seems to not be getting fuel into that carbie , but it does make it to the carbie so the fuel line itself is fine. Bloody hell , not only am l not mechanical anyway but the last thing l wanna do is start taking apart my brand new mower. Meantime got thick as your finger rich green grass a foot high round the place now, bugger.
Gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to someone.
All the best.

Hello RX, yes damn lawnmowers that don't start, used to be my nightmare as I'm not mechanical at all, I don't have that problem anymore as my son who takes after me is also mechanically minded and mows the lawns can pull one apart and get it going.
If I buy something online I use Paypal, but you may be in a different situation, but if it's new then there shouldn't be anything major, I hope not.
A whipper snipper may suffice, just wear some gumboots and be careful.
Best wishes.
Geoff.
