Hi everyone. I'm Geoff and have been a dedicated Volunteer on the forums for 13 years. I am proud to have stopped some of the stigmas that are associated with mental health as well as doing my best to help others too

Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice

I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips

I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

Yeah these are from the seeds she harvested from our organic tomatoes.She never buys seeds harvest her own with everything. She put a lot in this yr all kinds of stuff but l'm really fond of these tomatoes haha.

I have an "accidental" cherry tomato vine growing right across my garage door from the garden atm lol! Anyone is ALWAYS welcome to share their adventures of all types in the garden over there.

My uncle came up last week and made 2 louvre window frames but I need to get some quotes for the glass slats now just for those 2 frames. He's getting a "city" quote just for us to compare lol.
We'll get the cheapest quote ofcourse. We're going with clear glass since it's always been an outdoor space before - being a porch, so we want to keep the view.
Then we'll start on the front wall but he's removing a sliding door from HIS home to give us, which will be perfect.
Then 2 more louvres in that wall.

My Uncle got the FANCIEST timber custom cut in a very clever design of his own. Those timbers were expensive but will be the longest lasting and the most rain proof too. They're for the bottom of the louvres. There was only ONE place in the whole city that could do this for him. No one here.

I'd LOVE to put up LOTS of fairy lights for Christmas but we have the MOST spiders I've ever known here atm. I figure it was because so many birds were lost in the bushfires all around us last year, so they're not eating the spiders. So the spiders are using the fairy lights and it's pretty yucky.

I had the biggest wake up call that this is worse than ever. I cleaned a timber slatted mat we have and there were around 15 red back spiders in it. omg we need BIRDS!

SO I'm leaving out lots of food and fresh water for the birds.

We're repairing and renovating three bedrooms over the Summer whilst I have leave from work.
Holes in walls from demon ex need repairing. Pulling up carpet and scraping the dreaded rubber underlay off the timber floors. That will be our LAST carpet GONE from upstairs and I CAN'T WAIT lol.
Maybe painting but I don't like painting in Summer due to less air flow in the home, IDK we;ll have to see.

DEFINITELY ordering another Council pick up in January lol. So many things demon broke as we're discovering all over the place. But it's really nice getting down to the bare bones and the Minimalism thread has lots of great inspiration there.

Houses are such a reflection of who we are and where we're at. Like mine= unfinished projects!!

Rx I have some orange tomato seeds sitting here drying, but I'm a bit scared to plant them as I don't have heaps of success with seeds- any tips from your GF? My friend is expecting me to grow him some seedlings I'm sure, and I don't want to let him down. I should have warned him lol.

I can't think of anything that I want to ask in the way of building, but we are going to replace a window with a doorway to our outdoor dining area- patio..?....It's not a deck. But we have a lot to do before that. Knocking down wall, tiling front porch, painting, ripping up carpet-I hear you Em, horrible job that underlay- and then I can host family Christmas! No wonder it's taking time, not sure I'm up to that lol.

Actually surprising Geoff I done ok making pavers, my meticulous nature made some of the best levels around. Customers were very happy 🙂

It was hard work for little money though as the industry is very competitive ay. The price per square metre kept been driven down as supply increased and demand didn’t.

Hi All, I'm feeling much better thankyou, there was a mix up in my Websters pack, I only need this as I have to take heaps of medication.

Just put a 'Tommy tomato' in the ground, it will grow, or break it then put it in the ground then it will probably regrow next year or just put another in, there will be an abundance.

Hi EM, are those timbers for the louvres painted or stained?

Cans of 'surface spray will help to keep the red-backs away, but hope the birds just love them, isn't it amazing some animals can eat something that others are allergic too.

Hey Geoff , that's really nice to hear glad your feeling better.

Funny about red backs , l had a place over near Bendigo for awhile and l got up there on the wkend so things weren't touched or moved or anything through the wk at all. Well l'd grab some tools out of the shed and they'd have red backs on them. Once l grabbed the wheel barrow and it had about 50 red backs underneath it , yikes.

Eh Andre , that's a shame about the paving , such nice workmanship in paths and stuff and yeah pretty hard work l'd imagine, it deserves some half decent money doesn't it.
