Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice
I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips
I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

Gday geoff and all.
lt's funny actually geoff about spray cans at work but it's just easier than the spray gun though for little bits at work, But l had to go to a factory for parts a few weeks back and here they were using a spray can on 12mtr steel base frames , so l feel better now, if they can do it so can l haha.
Anyway yeah weathers been pretty mean here too how's it been at your place ? l did attempt a new door handle on the bathroom door, didn't have one. God such a simple thing did it give me some grief though. lt's still hanging off actually finally got it to fit but l still can't get the damn screws in.The other side handle clips off but the side with the screws doesn't can't get them past. Can't figure it out.
Cheers .

Hi RX, does the handle have a
Are the screws meant to screw into the other side latch?
The weather RX has been the usual Melbourne conditions, you never know what's going to happen.
Best wishes.

Hi Geoff and everyone,
I bought a detail sander a little while ago and I'm wondering what grit (if that's the right word) sandpaper I'd need for it to sand a table and chairs to re-finish them

Hey Geoff and thanks very much as always.
Wel , it does have that pin hole on the other side actually but guess what, the side you screw in the screws from is welded to the rest , so you still can't get at the crews properly. As l always say, it's a shame all these people out there designing all these things on computers , have never actually done what they're designing . Be great if someone told them in this case fore example a Phillips head won't work on a 45% angle getting at the screws.
Any , it's on haha , no thanks to the manufacturers . Gave it another shot today and after taking everything on and of 3 or 4 times and trying again and again, eventually l got the screws to turn enough with finger tips and take, kept that up for 25mins and they were in... eeeehh haaa. How civilized hey , a handle on the bathroom door finally, only took 3 yrs haha.
Still can't tighten the screws though , l'll have to dig out my round corner screw driver bit hey.
Beautiful day here today.

Hi MF and RX, sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday.
I'd start off with a 100 grit then gradually move to 150 and finish with 220 until it's beautifully smooth, try not to concentrate on one particular area if possible, otherwise, a 'hole' might develop.
Hi RX, you used to be able to buy a small little screwdriver that could unscrew at 90% angles, it's only about 6 to 8 inches long or 150mm to 200mm.
Sometimes you wonder why people can design equipment that is so difficult to work with, it makes me wonder.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Thanks for that Geoff.
Yep think l've got soemthing like that , mines a bit like an Allen key .
Seems l'm goin crazy civilized right now , guess what's next. A door on the toilet, yep. How's that for posh living huh. 3yrs and it's only had a curtain haha, and guess what , it's see through, very handy right. Very popular with the women , not. Just wait till they see a door on it eh.
Thanks mate. Rains back .
ps, Hey mf.

Actually Geoff , do they ever put louver doors on toilets ? Would that be a dumb thing or ? See it has a small 2nd bath room first then you walk through to the toilet , it's about 3mtrs long so the actual loo is a long way from the doorway , in the middle of the two there's a second doorway , no door on that either but l was thinking of just putting one door on the bathroom part which runs off the hall and just putting an archway through to the toilet part itself inside.
Well the bathroom doorway into the hall is really tall but quite narrow, that's why l've been thinking a louver might work better. It's out from the back hall not the main hall., already pretty private.
Cheers
