Before my health went south I was a builder in all aspects of home construction and renovation. If you don't have a handyman around I hope I can offer you some tips that may be of help. I have had many years of experience in home renovation and will do my best to help you out if you are stuck and need some advice
I hope my experience may be of help to the people on Beyond Blue and make their life a little bit better. Even if you need help with the most basic painting job or putting up a shelf I can help there too with some tips
I will do my best to get back to anyone that has a question when I can as this is social yet important thread

Hi MF, I quite agree, for a long time no one would allow me to climb up a ladder, knowing my history of breaking and falling off ladders, but I'm with you, no more ladders.
Oh
Hi
Best wishes.

Hi Geoff,
My jobs have all been paused on account of uni being back this past fortnight, which has kept me busy. Hoping to get some done over the weekend. Still in the process of cutting the roofing and timber for the garden edging.

Hi geoff and musicfreak.
There has not been any sign of the possum in my surroundings👍👍 I bought some cheap spray paint today to paint a rabbit skull i found. I hate using spray cans cause i manage to only get a small use out of it before it stops working.
Forgive trying to explain this cause i dont know alot of hardware product terms. With my wardrobe sliding doors i removed awhile ago the plastic things on the bottom of the floor where the doors slide along. The plastic things came off easy but the screws dont come out. I cannot for the life of me screw them out. I cant plier them out. I tried digging them out with screw driver but dosnt budge. There in a strip of wood on the floor. Any cheap easy ideas. I dont have an electric grinder.
Cheers lynne

Hi MF and Helium, thanks for getting back to me.
Hopefully MF it doesn't rain over the weekend or there are times when you only wished it had. lol
Hi Lynne, when you have a spray paint can, turn it upside down when you're finished using it then press the nozzle and wait until the paint stops coming out of the tin can (just a couple of seconds ) then wipe the nozzle before you put it back on the shelf.
If you hit the screws backwards and forwards continually they will break off, so let us know how you get on.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Thanks geoff.
Ive always done that with spray cans but they still get clogged.
Unfortunatly the screws are flush with the ground so impossible to do that. However in saying that where theres a will theres a way.
Cheers lynne

Hi geoff.
Your a genius. There were a few screws that were high enough to hit like you said and they came off. The rest were too low so i used a large screw driver on the side of each one and hit on both sides with big hammer and they came off too. Needs sanding, spakfilla and painting👍👍. My doors slide along nicely now. They dont keep jamming. Thankyou so much.
Cheers lynne
Thankyou so much

Gday Geoff, lyne, mf and anyone else.
Not wrong about the wet wkend Geoff , been nasty as here 3days now , started to look up this arvo though, sunday, thank God.
Lyne just a few tips with spray cans as l use 100s of them at work over the years. l do do the upside spray like Geoff suggested but only for a few seconds because sometimes the paint just keeps coming and l hate wasting it haha. But l usually just pour some turps on a rag and if the paint does slow or stop keep smother the nozzle with the turps rag and rub it about. That helps a lot with any left over the turps can get in and clean it a bit better. it only has to be a cap ful of turps on the rag , not even.
Another thing that's saved many a can is take the nozzle off and poke it with a pin around on the in part and even through the tip too sometimes, sometimes you'll dig out the dry pain stopping it.or just clear the way.
Another trick is just grab a nozzle of one of the other cans and stick that on , bingo she works, when it's empty just throw it back on the other one.
One last trick , is sometime the gas sorta just stops inside, it feels like it's blocked but with a real good shake for a minute or two it'll start spraying again.
Just a few things that get mine working again ,hate losing a can and you can bet it;ll always be one of your fav' colours or paints. l'll kill to get that puppy working again haha.
Good luck
