Hello all,
I have noted that there are a few readers on these forums. And, at the times we find it a struggle to read, we at least like the idea of reading. So, I thought I would start this Book Club thread, whereby we first throw out some genres, come to a consensus and read for as long as it takes us to read. No pressure. And should the whim take us, we can start discussing said book on here. How much we all hate/love that character. The feels the book is giving us, etc. Plus, a good excuse to take us out of our heads and into someone else's, even if it is fictional (or perhaps not?).
So, my genres:
A particular favourite is historical fiction, and next to that is post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction. I read the classics, fantasy, philosophy and science books. And my version of a quick read is something with adventure with a bit of history there (come full circle), and maybe crime. I have never got into law based fiction books. But law based non-fiction I can do for some reason. Anyway, that's me. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I have a "To read" list, and if anyone wants whatever is on there, let me know.

Hey there,
I am still going haha! I am about 3/4 through now. With my short term memory issues there has bern a lot of re-reading but getting there slowly but surely.
Please go ahead and discuss though 🙂
Re Emmy's earlier post about emotions. I don't think I'd like to program my emotions. Even though there are times I would like to not feel so low, I wouldn't want to miss out on that emotion. I feel there is a real need on life to be able to contrast between the happy and sad times.
I strongly believe that ADs are important and necessary at times, however I went to the theatre while on them and I missed out on the extreme emotion I would normally feel. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it but theatre productions are such a natural high for me I normally get goosebumps and happy tears and I missed that.
So, no. I would not want to be able to program my emotions.
Loving the book.

I love this idea too! i think someone just needs to choose a book.. is a month long enough? then we can discuss it?
- even if its not a book from your preferred genre, it is always excellent to try new things and then if you hate it you just don't have to do it again 🙂

Hey guys,
I think this is a great idea. What kind of book would people be interested in reading?
I will suggest a few:
Anything is Possible by Elizabeth Strout. It is a sequel but can be read on its own, her first book is one of my favourites.
A W.G Sebald book, I've been meaning to get another one.
I am also just about to start Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Whoever is interested why not suggest a few of your own? We could pick a short easy one maybe to start I don't mind at all I just have always wanted to be in a good book club.

Hello once again,
I still think this is a good idea...
So I'll have another go.
Anyone interested?
I'm about to read 'A death in the family' by Knausgaard. So that's one idea. But we'll have to pick a different one probably as it will take a while till everyone has a book.
(pls join it will be good)
