I am currently withdrawing from an SNRI antidepressant and finding it all incredibly hard. I was first put on the drug when I was in hospital after an abusive relationship. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would consider ending my life due to the withdrawal symptoms. It’s been 4 days now and my psych thought as I was at home with the flu, glandular fever and strep throat and that it would be a good time to come off the antidepressant. I feel like throttling him.
The brain zaps, the loss of concentration, the emotions, the crying for no reason, the vomiting, no appetite, headaches, fainting, dizzy spells, not being able to walk unassisted or get dressed by my self, having to hold on to the walls to get to another part of my house.
When does it get better, when do the suicidal thoughts simmer down or stop all together?
Please tell me there’s people experiencing this, I am in a world of hurt and nothing seems to be helping.
Ps it’s 1145 pm and you’d think about vomiting three time your body would be exhausted but no I’m wide awake, another side effect
Much appreciation
S xx

So if I've read this right, your psych took you straight off of them instead of weening you off of them over time? If so this is a big no-no as you should never go cold turkey from them, and would explain the horrible side-effects you are experiencing. Any psych that knows what they are doing would never do that.
I can't tell you when the side-effects will end, but I can tell you that the worst of it usually passes within a week or so.

Something else I could recommend is going down to your GP and telling them about what is happening, what they would probably do is prescribe you the same medicine but this time slowly ween you off it so you don't get withdrawal symptoms, or at least not nearly as bad. Of course, I'm not a doctor, but I assume this is would they would do.
Hang in there! You'll be better soon 🙂

Hello Skip, I'm really sorry that you are going through this terrible stage, but I agree with Max, you can't stop cold turkey because your body has to try and adjust, and I'm not qualified to
You need to taper off them and while doing this your psych should have given you something else to help you through this, and it would be a good idea to go and talk with your doctor or contact your psych.
It's so difficult when you need to change AD's but there is help out there for you.
Are you happy with this psych?
Best wishes.
Geoff.
