Hey everyone,
bit of a back story for you to get an idea of my situation! I’ve suffered severe anxiety for 8 years it first because me apparent during a very toxic relationship! I became so anxious that suicide cane to mind! I came out of that state with finding my own calmness for my anxiety!
last week my anxiety became so bad that I convinced myself that everyone is out to get me this all occurred due to an argument with my partners family which might I add his brother and partner attacked me out of pure guilt deflection, as in they won’t blame themselves so they found the next best and it happened to be me! Since this has happened my anxiety is to the point where I cannot go to work, I have the anxiety feeling in my chest of tightness and heaviness, I cry all of the time, and I shake at times!
cleaning and organising was my calming before but now even that’s not working! Would really love to hear some tips because getting a psychologist appointment soon is not happening!

Hello Beautiful Disaster,
A very warm and caring welcome to our wonderful forums..
I am so sorry what you’ve been through..I can resonate with being verbally attacked coming out of the blue...It comes out of nowhere and seems to shock our emotions fairly badly.,,
We have a grounding thread here..title “ Grounding yourself what is it and how do we..if you search top right on this page in the search bar...there are quite a few techniques on their that you could try for bringing us out of a panic attack etc..
When my chest starts feeling tight..and I’m in panic mode, I try to distract my thoughts from the sensations that my body is going through as well as get my thoughts away from thinking about what’s happening....Deep breathing works but for me it’s just not enough to calm myself down...Music helps a lot for me, as well as just sitting outside to feel the weather on my skin, watching and looking what’s around me...Internet games seems to help in distracting what my body and mind is going through...I even go onto you tube and listen to stories of interest to me..their voices are soothing and makes me feel like someone is with me...
Are you seeing a professional for your anxiety, if Not is this something that you would consider?..
The contacts our lovely Sophie has given you, have caring trained counsellors that can help...I have rang them at times of need and they have helped me....
Sophie is so right in saying your not alone..in your feelings of anxiety and we are here to try to support you through theses rough times your going through..
Please talk here anytime you feel up to it..We are here for you Dear Beautiful Disaster...
My kindest thoughts with care..

Dear Grandy,
I am currently awaiting my appointment with a psychologist which was really hard to get, booked out weeks in advance! I reached out to beyond blue for some help to get me through until that appointment! I so appreciate your advice and for the better part can normally recognise and straighten out an attack but this time it’s different I can’t seem to get out of them nor tell when they are going to hit at this point! The stressor is also a person I work with whom I have to speak to because I am her superior and she will often call to gain advice! So when I think about work I have an attack and start thinking irrationally like I have to quit my job etc! I need help or strategies to deal with confrontation and conflict or more so how to live mainly in the present instead of over thinking and thinking into the future because then I start making up scenarios that haven’t even happened yet!
