Hi all.
39male here.
Only my 2nd post.
Have many had really tight hips from anxiety?
I feel I may have anxiety and will tell GP in weeks ahead.
Signs are...
-worrying about things (never used to)
-stress
-tight hips
-always tired
-feel pretty weak
-by 5pm I'm cooked (even on days I don't work)
In saying that I have had a pretty big 6 months but I have been relaxing-mindfullness etc.
I must admit the 2 glasses of red at 6pm really does loosen my body up so I'm going to continue that.
but back to my original question, have people experienced ridiculously tight hips with anxiety?
I'm seeing a physio weekly but obviously he doesn't talk about anxiety.
He does say they are so tight.

Dear MainlyG~
This can be pretty worrying so I guess that you are taking the right approach in discussing things with your GP, after all it can be easy to see things in terms of stress and anxiety when there might be other causes.
That being said your symptoms sound a bit like me, and I have an anxiety condition that not only includes worry and all the mental effects, but also physical ones, such as headaches, tight /aching chest and more.
When I first went to the doctor just the symptoms were treated, e.g. sleeping tablets for insomnia etc, but later on a proper diagnosis was made and then treatment increased not only to address the physical symptoms but the anxiety too.
Please let us know how you get on

Been to the doctor and physio.
They think it may be anxiety.
Said my hips and muscles are ridiculously tight.
I'm starting a fortnightly massage from tomorrow

Dear MainlyG~
This looks like a pretty good move in dealing with the problem. Talking to your doctor and physio plus getting a regular massage will undoubtedly assist in relaxing your muscles, at least at the time.
May I ask what is being done about the probable cause, the anxiety?
Do you have any exercises or treatment to reduce stress and anxiety? Apart from what my psych does I find trying to alter my life to reduce stress can help a lot
Beyond Blue has a fair amout of information on this, if you have not seen this page before it can be a good place to pick up ideas and techniques.

There is also a long thread where members of the Forum have said what helps them

In addition I find using the free smartphone app Smiling Mind does help a lot. It does take practice until you get used to it, but leaves me after a session less up-tight and calmer. It tends to break out my mind from inside an endless loop of worry.
It has all levels of exercise, even one for me who has the attention span of a gnat:)
