Hello,
I struggle with feeling very home sick when travelling even with my parents/family.
I know it's best for my anxiety to push through and keep traveling or going holidays but it's so hard.
What are some strategies to assist please?
Thanks,

Hello Olive,
I can understand how it can be hard to worry about our anxiety being triggered. It can be hard to push through and to go against our head. I think that with practice, it can be done. It's not easy but I think it's worth it to keep trying.
Usually what I do is try not to worry ahead as it might be all ok. Our worries can make it happen or make it worse. Then when I feel the anxiety is coming, I try to keep as calm as I can for it not to get worse. Walking really works for me, I read up somewhere and I believe it that our natural relaxed state is "grazing" meaning a relaxed movement. While walking I focus on reality and try to align my mind to what is actually happening, that it is all ok and that I will be fine, nothing serious is actually happening and that it's just my anxiety talking. I'm still not best at it and still working on it but it did help me quite a bit to learn how to be calm in any situation.
I wish you all the best and hope that you'll have great time, please let us know how you're going

Hi Olive83,
I hope you are doing well. Would it help to have something familiar to ground you when you are feeling anxious? I like nice smelling things like lotion and scented soaps. Maybe you could bring something similar to remind you of home? I wish you all the best.
