Hi .
I find with my anxiety i struggle so badly when it comes to decisions. I recently applied for a new job and its been the first time in about 16 years. I was going well and gained a second interview. Unfortunately it all got the better of me , the thought of changing jobs and the fact that my current employee knows of my problems and supports me with aa 4 day week and time for appts when i need it. I spoke up at the second interview and didnt go through with it . I am just scared of the expectations of a new position but i am desperately unhappy where i am . It is just so hard at times to know what to do. I also worry that i may have hijacked a good oppurtunity. I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences and some advice.
Brett.

I have been headhunted by a friend to join a company in a good role. For days now I have felt inadequate, have eaten little, slept only when totally exhausted and been emotional all the time, just to name a few symptoms. Yet all the time keeping the smile on my face to the public. Inside I'm crying my heart out, trying not to disappoint a friend, and my family.
I've been eating little but well. Exercising. Drinking lots of water and green tea. Meditating. Yet the feelings of total despair and irrationality just won't go away. So, as usual I will probably make an excuse and stay where I am.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi there,
i am sorry you are feeling this way, change is scary in any case, especially after being in the same spot for years.
however, change can be good, and it is often not until you make that change that you realise it was the best decision to make! ask yourself, will you regret the choice? if so, then maybe that shows that you need to get a new job. only you know.
also, speaking to your doctor about this anxiety can help, i went to a psychologist which was really beneficial for my adjustment anxiety.
i hope you feel better soon,
jaz xx

Hi Toes.
I was wondering does your friend who is head hunting you know of your situation , if not would it be of benefit to you if you explained your situation, at least you will know if the new role would be supportive of you. I am sorry that you are struggling with things at the moment. From what you say you must be a very good employee and a very much respected person.. I am happy to talk more any time . Brett
