Selling my car

I am quite anxious about selling my car that I have owned for 19 years. I have no choice but to sell the car for scrap metal as the cost of repairing the car is too high for me to maintain any longer. I am planning on using my brother’s car and he has agreed to me using his car. When I am driving his car, it feels strange being in a different car than the vehicle I was used to. Just wondering if anyone has had similar feelings or am I just overreacting?

Hi Clara1,

Thank you for your post here. We’re glad that you have been able to share with us what has been happening for you, and we hope this is a space where you can feel welcome to continue to do so.

It is completely normal to feel strange being in a new car, especially after you have been driving your car for almost 20 years! We can get so used to our own car that driving a new one can feel very unfamiliar, which can feel anxiety-provoking when trying to focus on driving.
It can be a big adjustment but with time and practice it will hopefully start to feel more and more comfortable.

Have you been on any drives lately? If so, how did they go for you? We would be keen to hear any updates if you’re willing to share.

Once again thank you for posting here 😊

Kind regards
