Does anyone else have a fear of vomiting? Everytime I have a panic attack I vomit constantly and the nausea feeling and the vommiting is the worst experience!

I am not sure if my increased dosage is having side effects or my anxiety is playing up but I haven’t had panic or vomited yet but the over thinking about it is killing me and is also causing me stress and making me nauseous 😞 anyone got advice?

Hi Dianadraferreira and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you have had a bad experience with anxiety and vomitting. It is normal to have an aversion to vomitting if you have had a bad experience with it. Especially if it reminds you of panic attacks and extreme stress.

I think if you are concerned about your medication and dosage you should discuss it with your doctor. Some medications do come with some side affects such as nausea, however a lot of the time it goes away after a week or so. I wouldn't suggest upping or downing the dose until you discuss it with your doctor.

I have found when dealing with nausea I try eat something bland like dry crackers or hot chips or something like that. Also a little lemonade can help as well.

Dear Diandra1~

Panic attacks are the pits, just by themselves without the vomiting they distort one's life, not only at the time, but also wondering if it is going to happen at a bad time, like out in front of people.

I'm sure you will already know what to do to try and overcome an attack as it happens - controlled breathing, thoughts, perseverance with an activity etc, as you are already under treatment (if not sing out).

I guess the real good thing is no attacks since you changed your meds, as it has only been a week it may well be they have not stabilized as yet and the anxiety levels you are feeling now will diminish too.

Now I'm not entirely sure what I would do for the possibility of vomiting, I guess MsPurple's suggestions sound very sensible. I do know Dry Ginger Ale helped my partner too. With forestalling panic attacks as such I'm on more familiar ground, and my answer - apart from medical support - is to try to reduce both the background stress in my life together with avoiding unnecessary situations which I've had attacks in before or are likely to produce them.

Not altogether that easy however as things build up I'll try to shift locations and have some form of physical activity. Mainly get out of the house and go for a walk, even a short one. One area I know helps is to do things I enjoy regularly every day, things to take my mind away and give me something to look forward to. I use books and movies. do you have anything like that?

If my mind seems to be spiraling into a highly anxious state another thing I do (and this can be done just about anywhere) is to use the free smartphone app Smiling Mind with earbuds. It takes a fair degree of practice but is surprisingly effective.

Hi. I often experience dry reaching or vomiting when I get out of bed in the morning I believe this is due to my anxiety at times when I wake.10 mins after dry reaching I feel much better and I’m able too relax somewhat and enjoy a cup of tea
