OCD and asbestos

Hi everyone, my first post. I suffer from OCD and it has become difficult over the many years for me; recently on my nature strip I discovered a small flat light solid beige object, something organic or plastic which charrs black when burned with a match. Seeing it, my thoughts went straight to asbestos, and the silly scenarios of asking people, going to Bunnings and asking AI (all saying it is nothing serious) - I've once again sent myself all over the place. Take care people.

Hi Guy
My daughter also lives with OCD and I can well understand why finding that object was triggering.
I’m so sorry that you’re struggling now and that you’ve been struggling for years, OCD is nothing but relentless.
I really hope that you are receiving treatment and learning how to sit with intrusive thoughts and not perform rituals. It’s really really hard but it is possible.
My daughter currently has her OCD at low levels; ERP and medication has really helped.
You take care.
Kind thoughts to you

I have help and will keep working to deal with these intrusive thoughts.
Kind regards and thank you.
