Hi everyone,
I'm really nervous about discussing this but I need some support and advice as I'm feeling really alone at the moment.
Recently at work have been told I am not performing well and have been told to leave on my own terms or get fired. I have not been given enough time to make this decision and it is making me feel worthless and incompetent. It has really been playing on my mind and my anxiety is reason why I am in place. Over the past year, my anxiety has been getting worse and has really played a big role in my work. When I get into an uncomfortable situation with others, I began to feel scared and get into this state of not wanting to talk and face the situation at hand. It makes it even worse as it is a high pressure job with a high workload. This leads to not returning calls or e-mails as I don't want to be in a confrontation or uncomfortable situation as I really doubt myself and didn't want to face situation. I wish that my anxiety didn't control the way think and the self doubt that I have.
I feel like I have no one to talk to about it and I am feeling really alone as I don't want to burden people with my issues. I keep up a happy facade in front of others but I have broken down and have had few mini panic attacks when I am alone.
Please give me some advice on how to best handle this situation.

As Jay has already mentioned, so great to hear you were able to talk to your parents and receive support during this difficult time. Managing anxiety can be tricky territory, but it sounds like you're making a really positive step forward, taking some time to focus on yourself and seeking the help you need to get back to a happier place.
I thought I would mention too, that if you're living in the greater Dandenong area, we are currently offering a free one on one support service either face to face or over the phone (or both) specifically to help during a difficult time. If you're interested feel free to call us on 1300 036 418 and if you would like to read more about this service you can access this via the beyond blue website at beyondblue.org.au/beyondblueconnect.
Wishing you all the very best Bona,
Brett

Hi Bona
After reading the complete thread and the decision you made perhaps the ultimatum was a blessing in disguise.
Although work can seem important your health should always be number 1.
2 weeks ago after discussion with family I took 2 weeks away from work to check into a clinic for mental health. It was a hard decision at the time as i didnt know how work would respond. In the end i decided it didn't matter what they thought and if they weren't supportive then it wasn't the right place to work.
You have done amazingly well and made the first step in recovery. Acknowledging your issue and opening up to yourself and family is difficult but in the end will be very rewarding.
Well done on this step and all the best in your recovery
Todd
