I wanted to get some tips from people on what you do to reduce your anxiety. I'm doing remedial massage and exercise. I'm trying meditation but I'm finding it hard to focus because my mind doesn't stop racing.
Any suggestions welcome!!

Hi Nightwing81,
Welcome to the forums!
There is a really great post here on self-help tips for managing anxiety which I'll link below, you can have a big read as theres lots and lots on there -
https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/self-help-tips-for-managing-anxiety
I've actually always wanted to try remedial massage! I do a lot of meditation and mindfulness work too. I always thought in the beginning I wasn't cut out for it or doing it wrong because my mind was always racing, but I realised that it's totally okay and normal. Sometimes it can just be about drawing your attention to your breath for a little bit, or even your pinky finger - not that the pinky finger is a mediation (heh) but it's an example of how you can bring your attention to something even when your mind is racing 🙂
Hope this helps!

Hello Nightwing, and welcome to the site.
When people decide to use meditation it may very well be the answer, but there are times it could produce negative side-effects, that affect your emotions, loss of motivation and relive your traumatic memories and cause your well being not to become any better, so I'm unable to use this type of recovery and do try other ways.
I'm not necessarily saying it's worth, because many people benefit from it and psych's also recommended it, so their belief is that it does work, however, when a psychologist told me that I should be walking around the block as it would improve my depression, I couldn't just because I had no inclination nor any strength to be able to do it, just saying.
To meditate you need to think about what inspires you that can spark some creativity and if you cry it's a way of releasing emotion and cleansing yourself, but you have to be focused and if you aren't able to do this then there are other ways that can draw your attention away and do what suits you.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Hello Nightwing 81,
I've also had some success with scented candles and essential oils, especially if you're having trouble sleeping 🙂
Kindly,
M

hi rt
you should try remedial massage its a very good way to relieve tension. if you don't have any sore spots tell them to do a firm massage. that's the best way to relieve tension! plus if you have private health insurance you can claim the cost,
thanks for the link i'll check it out.
kindly,
nightwing81
