Yes that’s very true, the postnatal depression. Anxiety is a panic whereas depression in general is pain, a very real pain. You can have both of them at the same time, which it seems you definitely are experiencing, I’m so sorry that you’re going through it all. Hopefully soon both will clear up so that you can enjoy time with your baby and partner.
Meaningful interaction with your partner will be beneficial: lots of physical touch (and to be clear I‘m not being rude: I mean this in terms of like hugs, shoulder rubs, whatever, is normal for your relationship). Touch from other humans literally reduces pain responses in our brains, so sometimes that is better than words (whereas anxiety is, for me anyway, quite verbal in nature). If you can somehow elicit that from your partner, great. Even asking for hugs etc, if you are comfortable with that kind of thing. Let your partner know when your partner is trying to help if that’s what you’d like. Whatever helps reduce the psychic pain brought about by this enormous change that really your mind is having the adjustment to.

That’s ok Lmtkrc’s 😊 I’m glad I have helped you in some way..... I believe I went through my condition to come out the other side to help others with similar conditions... I’m always here for a chat and support 😊
After having my children I was diagnosed with post natal anxiety and OCD.... I completely understand what you are going through... I know it’s hard but you will get through this... stay positive and keep seeking professional help... many many people go through these conditions you are never alone...
I know my partner didn’t completely understand what I was going through but just having him there for support and a hug helped....
maybe try a bit of mindfulness today... feel the sun on you when you go for a walk, what can you hear? What can you smell?
keep in touch and please let me know how you go with your gp... stay positive your good days will eventually out weigh your bad ones .... 😊

Hi Lmtkrc’s,
Im glad to hear you are doing better today 😊
Yes maybe..... anxiety can make us over think......
when you have the thought try not to question it or look further into it.... just direct your attention onto something in the present moment 😊 eg your beautiful baby.... what does his skin feel like? How beautiful is he? What beautiful sounds does he make....... also try to go for a walk outside and notice all the beautiful things around you😊
also have you joined a mother’s group or play group in your area? I found that helpful...... speaking to other mums help too 😊 also gave me a day to look forward to in the week .... to have some adult conversation too 😊
Im no too sure if you worked full time before Bub.... I did and I found it pretty isolating just to be at home just with Bub... so I found I had to get out there with Bub and with other mums ( it’s helpful to plan your week with Bub so you have things to do and look forward to)... I also did baby sensory that was great..... these even baby massage...
these are all baby and mum groups....
I was still anxious doing these things but it did make me feel better at the time for doing them with other mums 😊
keep in touch here if you want to chat 😊

Glad to hear your symptoms lessened a little bit 🙂 there is a sort of feedback loop with anxiety sometimes, where the anxiety fuels thoughts and these fuel anxiety further, so if you can break this cycle it can be good. Also, antidepressants generally have a period Just after you start taking them where they cause nausea and some other symptoms physical and psychological. This is your body and mind adjusting... this could well be momentarily exacerbating anxiety, and hopefully should taper down real soon.....
similar to petal, I’m here anytime you want to chat more 😀
