Hi,
For about 6 Years now I’ve been experiencing school related anxiety and panic attacks. I’m really unhappy at my current school, there’s lots of academic pressure and it’s a huge high school so I often feel very isolated and like nobody could understand, I have trouble making conversation, I feel very awkward in social situations and tend to avoid them. I tried trialling at a different school but I still felt isolated and was largely ignored. I’m considering homeschooling and I wanted advice to see if that might be a better option or if there are other alternative schooling options?

Hi,
I've been in a similar situation the best thing for me was to surround myself with people i felt comfortable around and i knew would help me if i even had a panic attack at school i also had weekly appointments with the school consilous just to chcek up on whats happening on that week as well as this i also had supporte from my teachers who would sometimes allow more time if i was extrememly stressed. as far as home schooling goes it really depends on the person you may regret not having a socal life at lunch times or even in class but thats something you'll figure out.

Hi
I, too, have been in a similar situation. I tried different schools like you and did not fit in. The more that I tried to fit in the more I got bullied and left out.
If you have social anxiety like I have possibly still got in my late 40s, I would not rule out home schooling if that is what it takes to get through your education. I wish that it was an option for me in my day (even if it was I doubt that my parents would have let me have it).
But I would at the same time seek professional help to address your anxiety with fitting-in with people. My therapist helped me to realise that there is still a place even if you do not get to participate in conversation. I am currently seeking further help, and I hope that you will too.
Don't hesitate to check out the "Find a Professional" link below or the support line to point you in the right direction.
All the best
Irene.
