Anxiety over job application .Feeling like im trapped.

Hi and thank you for reading..

I have been a long time sufferer of anxiety and depression. I have written before so i hope im not overdoing things.    I recently applied for a position as a ward assistant at a hospital where im currently volunteering a few hours a week.   I had an interview online last week and have yet to hear anything.   The whole process is maxing out my anxiety issues to the point that im not sure if i could even handle the position even on a one or two day basis that i mentioned in my interview.   I have been honest and mentioned my problems on my application.    It just makes me so scared about where im heading .. Im 58 and worked since i was 16 and im just tired  this anxiety .  I wonder if anyone has had similar feelings or any thoughts.       Best wishes to everyone       Brett.

Hi Brett, I'd like to practice the thought of 'what is meant to happen will happen'. Especially in a job interview, if they didn't think you were qualified for the job they wouldn't have interviewed you in the first place! Don't be too hard on yourself. If you got the job, it means they see the potential in you whether or not you're doubting yourself. If you didn't maybe it just wasn't meant to be and that's totally okay. The anxiety part sucks and is totally normal as I too feel the exact same with job interviews questioning whether 'I'm the right fit', 'is this role really for me', 'what if I hate it' but with these things we will never know until it happens. And then we just take it as it comes and figure the next steps to it. Just take it one step at a time, you got this!

You make a lot of sense and as you say they must have seen something they liked to even interview me.   Im going through all those emotions you speak of but again as you say one step at a time.  Its the weekend now so maybe its time to put it on the backburner for a couple of days and enjoy my local football.   Thanks again  Hi.   Wishing you a happy weekend              Brett

I am 56 and have been working in my own business for 30 years. I could not imagine trying to apply for a job at this point in my life if I had to so good on you and all the best of luck.
