Good Morning,
I made a stupid spelling mistake on a website yesterday - the word ended up being a word in another language that has illegal matter based on it. I never knew - and it was a very basic spelling mistake (one letter, next to each other on the keyboard). A federal warning appeared on my screen, and I immediately closed the window. I never saw anything.
I have now had severe anxiety attacks (have had several attacks over my life, had help), based on being concern this will trigger the police and I will have legal issue , based on a mistake of one letter.
I understand no-one can provide legal help on these forums - but common sense and guidance to my anxiety might help lower my levels

Hi, welcome
Certainly this mistake was innocently made, so theoretically the better way to approach any error like this is to develop faith in yourself.
Unfortunately society not always treat innocent people with the respect they deserve, so there will be the odd occasion that such mistake are assumed guilty. Be prepared for that response. But on the whole you might need to reduce your anxiety, accept you arent perfect and role with your imperfections so you have a more calm existence.
Like everyone else I've made mistakes but my approach to it now is, I do accept them and more importantly I do not tolerate those that hammer me on them, over react or dont accept my own self discipline to ensure I wont make the same mistake twice.
I have a thread that might interest you-

Thankyou for your reply, and your advise - I appreciate it.
I guess i just wondering if I need to have the anxiety at all - I did nothing wrong, small spelling mistake - and never view etc.. anything illegal, shut the website down on the warning page. Just have serious anxiety over the fact that authorities might flag the search and think it was real.

I often make typos on this forum and they can be embrassing.
were you writing in another language.?
It is upsetting for you, I think it was a simple harmless mistake.

I suppose you could ask yourself-
- Is it likely authorities will pursue this?
- If they do will they accept your reason?
- Is it better to wait until it happens or worry over it when it might not happen?
- Is it worth the worry?

Hi TomC
You are strong by discussing the mistake in your opening post. There are many community members that have also made mistakes on these forums as well. You are not alone here at all
Being human we do make mistakes....Sometimes avoiding various websites can help reduce our anxiety levels prior to engaging in any discussion
Thankyou TomC for being a part of the Beyond Blue forum family and speaking from the heart
my kind thoughts
Paul
