Who am I?

OK. What I am about to say might sound strange, but I will try to explain it well...

I have a house in my head that looks like a castle. There are lots of people living inside and some of them are versions of me, and some are not. Probably a good idea to say now that all the people know about all the other people (or so I believe) and have shared memory etc. Also, I think I created them all. Anyway, they all speak and have different personalities (there are at least 25 and they all have names). There are all sorts of people -- young, old, modern, medieval, female, male etc. I do not mind having them most of the time -- they are good company. One of them is 'me' (the one who is writing this). In the house she is called 'DR,' and she keeps everything running and has to deal with the outside world (i.e. you, school, tests etc.).

However, there is a little issue because, for example, one of us wants to be really religious, and the rest of us don't really go in for that sort of thing. What should I do? Who should I listen to? I am a little confused. And who am I?

Thank you.

Hi Pontius, welcome

There are about 5000 different types of religion in the world....and they all believe theirs is the "right one".

What is important I'd say, is for you to be yourself with beliefs and allow others to do the same. I've lost several family members due to some joining a sect. Being an atheist I would never fit in. I was a threat that needed to be detached from my niece and her young family. That's life, cant do anything about it.

But it does show the vulnerability of human beings. To feel they need to belong. Anyway- to your journey- "who am I"

Having posted in the section of young people you are under 25yo. Fantasy eventually is replaced by realistic thoughts in life as we mature. I almost garrantee you wont think the same way at 30yo as you do now. However you have the foundation for a good book and if you can put it down on paper it could turn into something worthwhile...in the least it will dump your thoughts onto paper, not a bad thing at all.

Youth is the very reason you don't know yourself. Treat it as an exciting journey, not a burden. Most and I mean most young people don't know themselves and if they look like they do its only confidence, not knowledge of their own immature mind.

Give it time. And behave in a manner that you will end up loving yourself.

Hello and thank you for replying.

The main problem is not the not knowing about religion etc. (that is just and example) but more having a house of over 25 people living in my head and all wanting different things and thinking different ways. That is why I am confused as to who I am. That is also why I am a little concerned -- that is not normal, is it? Should I be worried?

Hi Pontius

ok, well it doesn't sound "normal"...but how many people thing similar complex thoughts? How many share them? So we don't know how far and wide peoples thoughts go. We have no "yardstick"

eg  as a kid I had a friend that kept saying to me that one day his right arm will be lost...severed in an accident. Is that normal?

Of course go to your GP and he could refer you to a psychiatrist. If it cant be afforded you could get up to 10 free visits depending on your situation.

But the most important thing I can say to you is to keep this into perspective. They are thoughts from imagination. It is good to have mind control and that's where my concern is, that you don't have full mind control.

But hey, I'm a sufferer of mental illness not a professional medical person.

Be concerned, don't be over reactive about it, get treatment and remain realistic about it.

All story tellers have similar mind content and they enjoy it. Relax and see you GP.
