I have been sick for a long time and have never been a fully grown person and been healthy, so in a way, i have no idea who i am without a mental illness. I was going okay but then I turned to bad coping mechanisms and have gone down hill again, can't concentrate in school, i feel like i annoy everyone with my issues and mental breakdowns, i can't be bothered anymore to put it simply. I don't even know what I'm expecting or hoping to find by writing this. maybe hope? i don't know.

Hello poppyh, please keep writing to the forums, there are people who care and through their personal experiences may be able to make suggestions as to how to cope as it sounds as though you have a lot of things going on in your life. Coping with mental health issues on a day to day basis is challenging, but with school or a job or just life in general, it is tough as the emotional stuff can make us exhausted, as well as just getting through. Sometimes the tiredness clouds our ability to think straight or make decisions. Be kind to yourself. And here's a hug for you.

Hey poppyh

Welcome to the forums - and yes it is exhausting. You don't make mention of whether you have seen your GP or a psychologist or received help in some other form. You talk of bad coping mechanisms, can I ask what they are? These "episodes", or breakdowns that you refer to can really knock a person around so I would strongly suggest you speak to someone you trust - even starting with the school counsellor or a teacher if you have one you feel comfortable with.

One of the most difficult things I have found is accepting help.I was supposedly always the strong one - everything I just took in my stride and so, when my latest episode occurred it shocked several people. But I found it came down to me reaching out to my GP and I was pleasantly surprised and I now have a very strong support group around me.

Take care poppyh - and, if you feel comfortable do write back.Remember also that Beyond Blue has some terrific people at the end of the phone 24/7 to talk to. I know. I have used the service several times.

Sending positive vibes
