That's a good idea Ixve, thanks for posting on this topic. Do you have ideas on this - any tips on releasing tension?
There's also a section of this forum for young people that has some posts about school, you might find that interesting.

Hello lxve,
Welcome to the forums..
I think that is a very good idea, it might give some other young people a place to release some stress anxiety etc about school.
How about you lxve, how are doing at school?
Do you need to release your thoughts or do you need to talk about anything..your welcome to talk about as little or as much as you want to..
These forums are safe and no judgement at all here, just friendly people who want to offer their help..
Kind thoughts,
Grandy

Hi Grandy,
thanks for welcoming me xx
surprisingly i do well at school, i attend a selective school, so sometimes it's stressful since you are constantly in a room of people who are of an exceptional standard. It does get extremely tiring to have to consistently try to top others. I do have anxiety, OCD & panic disorder, so it's just a little bit harder. However, I have slowly learnt to lean on my friends, not to bother with my parents as they really don't understand and try to, at least try to, fend for myself. The people i care about most don't really understand and my friends & boyfriend try to but it's still hard for them. My parents are another thing, I love them but they just can't cope with the idea that their daughter isn't perfect.
thank you so much for offering your help, I am here for you too, and for any others who have read these posts.
warm hugs,
stef

Hi stormcloudz,
thanks for the suggestion and the question!
My tips for dealing with stress and reducing tension include:
- trying to find a small amount of friends who will at least try to understand what your going through
- to immerse yourself in activities you enjoy
- listen to upbeat music
- don't let negative thoughts or comments from other people impact you or your day at hand
and always always practice self-care, these are somethings i should actually start doing again since i've repetitively stopped practicing these things. However, i encourage others to do so.

Hey there Lxve!
Thanks for your post - it's a great idea.
I'm sorry to hear that your parents have trouble understanding you... It can happen quite often so you're not alone! I'm really glad to hear that you have a good support network and that you have your own ways of managing the stress of what sounds like a really competitive environment.
Those are great ideas for dealing with stress and reducing tension! A few more can include:
- Making sure you're practicing healthy sleeping habits: this can be really difficult especially in high school with the amount of work you're given, late nights and early mornings can be a bit tricky! But doing things like reducing the amount of screen time before bed, and maintaining regular sleep/wake times can also help reduce stress... You're not you when you're sleepy!
- Physical activity is a great one! It's not for everyone... but exercise, sport, dancing and other types of physical activity can help to release endorphins (happy hormones!) which can alleviate some stress and tension as well.
- For some people, alone time is necessary! Not everyone enjoys being around people 24/7 and that's okay. In a school environment, you're around people all day which can be exhausting in itself so it can be hard if you don't get time to yourself.
