September 23rd - Apocalypse Theory?

Hey everyone, me again.

Basically, I'm getting super scared and anxious yet again, but over this apparent Niribu planet collision apocalypse theory. It's been popping up on all of the big news sites (DailyMail, News.com.au, 7 News etc) and it's getting more and more attention and in return, it's making me more and more nervous.

Is there any truth behind it? Apparently we'd know if it was coming due to it blocking stars or sunlight etc. but idk, it probably seems super dumb but this is the stuff that makes me so scared I feel sick.

Hi crampmystyles,

I personally haven't heard much about it other than passing but I don't tend to give these sorts of things much interest as I tend to think a little logically and that amount of times I have read about these sorts of things happening, they have never turned out true. They do get air time on main stream media, sometimes I think they are taking the mickey out of it however more so than saying it is 100% going to happen.

My best for you,

Jay

Hi,

I only read about this today. Who really knows? I feel a mixture of curiosity, fatalism & disdain.

Curiosity - could "they" really work something like that out?

Fatalism - good, the world will be gone & I won't have to live any longer .

Disdain - it wouldn't be possible to know that. It's just hocus pocus!

I'll write back on the 24th, if we're all still here lol.

Take care, Topsy.

With anxiety, the mind grabs hold of something (anything !) and runs with it. The brain's fight/flight/freeze mechanism kicks in and takes over. A very frightening and debilitating experience indeed...Please keep in mind that most scenarios it concocts to scare us with never make it into reality.

I haven't heard much about this new scare either. I guess I don't pay much attention to theories of doom. Many have come and fizzled back into nothingness before. Sensational stories easily catch people's attention and the media profits from giving them coverage while interest lasts.

I hope you have coping strategies and distractions lined up to help you over the next few days. Have you checked online treatment for anxiety (MindSpot, MoodGym) ? Apps like Smiling Mind and Bhuddify may also help.
