School and Deppression/Anxiety

I'm 14 and have been dealing with depression/anxiety for three years now. I have been getting help at places such as headspace for the last two years and it hasn't helped, things have just become worse and I was wondering how I can balance this with school and all. I don't sleep much, don't eat at day but binge eat at night, won't look in any mirrors, sleep all the time, never leave the house, have no friends and self-harm. I have these visious cycles where I can't move or get out of bed, they last about a week or two. I miss so much time from school and am failing all my classes. It's just all too much.

HI Lucy and welcome to the forums.

Like you I have had mental health issues since I was young to. I am now 26 but saw someone for the first time at 12. I have also used services like CAHMS and headspace, I have found them helpful, but like yourself not all the time.

I know it is harder to open up when you are younger. Gosh I was very closed off and I really struggled to express how I felt to people. I couldn't even explain it to my therapist. I am wondering if you are clicking with your therapist at headspace? I have seen someone that I didn't click with and it wasn't working for me. I saw another person in the same clinic. (headspace actually encourage you to talk to them if you don't think you are clicking. It isn't something the psychologist takes personally, sometimes people open up better to different people). If you don't think you are clicking then maybe talk to admin or the intake team about it and see if they can suggest someone else that is available? Can email them if you are nervous about asking them in person. I found when I connected well with someone even if I couldn't word how I was feeling, they would ask the right questions and get it.

Honestly as clique as it is it does get better. When I was 14 my mental health and self esteem were at an all time low.
