Hi Jay C,
I'm not sure if anyone that's written previously is still reading.
There r some great suggestions on organisations to turn to in this thread for eg centrelink, salvos, etc...
I've too been homeless living out of my car and on the land but then found cheap shared options I was able to afford being on centrelink and was able to get help with food from churches, and other organisations.
I sincerely hope it works out for you.
All the best.

By the way, I've never been homeless and it's difficult for me to understand you. But a couple of years ago when I move from my parents I felt that can't cope with my monthly budget. Every day I felt a lack of money for buying food, paying for flat rent etc. I was searching for tools that could help me with budget managing. And one day I caught it. It was just a simple daily planner.
Now I use Budget planner application. But I think it will be great to start planning your life even with a paper planner.

I feel your pain brother! I haven't worked for the past 14 weeks due to illness and injury. I have had to sell my car just to pay rent and bills. Currently $1500 behind in electricity and gas bills and have had a slight win as they have frozen them bills so it doesn't get disconnected.
I have had no luck with centrelink as I was born in New Zealand and came to Australia when I was 3 months old to my Australian father and English mother.
Back then I'm led to believe you didn't need a passport and I only have a New Zealand birth certificate.
In 1985 it was ok to use this as I was on job seeker for 3 months but 36 years later, working and paying taxes it's not good enough.
Centrelink make it say hard that in the end, I've given up.
In the last 18 months I've lost both my parents, my mother 2 weeks ago.
Prior to selling my car, I was a month behind in rent and after a phone call with the realestate describing my predicament I mentioned I couldn't even feed my dog and was planning to sell my car. I took what I could for it as soon as possible, 10,000 under retail value. Later that afternoon, the realestate came and knocked on my door with $50 dollars to feed my dog. I was so depressed and said no, it's OK as I have sold my car and would fix the arrears the following day. I have had to use all my annual leave and sick leave to stay afloat. The money I received for the car has almost run out and it will be a presentless Christmas for my children this year. The future looks grim and with the local doctors surgeries in the area no longer bulk billing and for ultrasounds and mri's in my area not bulk billing I have to take public transport to towns that do. I just don't know where to turn.
