No individualality

Hi. I have a twin sister. She is basically the better, smarter, skinner and prettier version of me. She is with me all the time. I don’t like it. I am VERY independent and I don’t like people so having her around 24/7 makes me feel trapped. I’ve told her to go. To leave me alone but I can’t excape it. She now works at the same place as me. Every person I know gets me and her confused. I have no sense of individuality because no one knows who I am. No one knows the real me. My life is a constant questioning if I was meant to even be here and is my sister the one who my parents wanted.

Hi Hannahw,

Welcome to blueVoices 🙂

Whilst I don't have a twin, I have a sister who is 1 year older than me. She's taller, smarter, and more successful than me. One of her jobs is the same as mine - as a library assistant at University. People get us mixed up ALL the time, which can get annoying sometimes.

The resolution is to find peace within yourself. There will ALWAYS be people that are smarter, better, skinnier, taller, prettier, etc etc than you. It's impossible to be the #1 person in this world. How would you feel if someone told you to go away and leave you alone? I suggest giving yourself space if you feel trapped, e.g. join a sports club or watch some movies in your room.

Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on ways YOU can become a better and happier person. How you view yourself is important. What good traits do you have? What are your achievements?

I hope you feel better about yourself.

xx
