My physical symptoms are driving me mad, bloating, burping and indigestion. I am constantly focused on my stomach and hypersensitive to it. I have this awful feeling I have a form of the dreaded C!. I have been telling myself its my anxiety but the symptoms persist making me feel like there is really is something wrong!

Hi Melissa

Warm welcome to the forum.

good to hear from you. It appears you feel uncomfortable with how your digestive system is working and the symptoms keep repeating. Understandably you are worried and anxious. having GP investigate your concerns may alleviate your anxiety but also it will likely provide you with anserwers if this is correctable and what might cause it.

Digestive irregularities maybe symptomatic of many changes in a diet, gut flora and health conditions. They may point to some food sensitivities and allergies also. These, no doubt would be investigated by your GP. Documenting your diet, any stresses and symptoms maybe helpful for your GP. The same for recalling when you last felt everything was ok and what was your diet then.

Complementary to seeing GP, Chinese medicine practitioners (accredited and registered) maybe helpful. Their main focus is to maintain good health (in contrast to western medicine that deals with diseases). They may ask you similar questions about your lifestyle and diet, check your tongue, eyes and chi (like checking the pulse) but are unlikely to engage in more scientific tests for allergens, pathology, etc.

All the best. Let us know how you going.

Hey mellissa,

Welcome to the forums! Thanks for joining us 🙂

Health anxiety is awful and I'm sorry you have to deal with it. It is not easy - no matter what you do it always is there bugging you telling you that something is wrong!

I've both gone through and talked about health anxiety with a lot of people on these forums so I made up a little post - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/health-anxiety---tips-ideas-and-coping-strategies---please-share-what-works-for-you#qphpFHHzvGGEbv8AAOnT_A

There's quite a few people that have contributed to it too. I think ultimately it's about finding out what's going to work for you.

Keep on battling your anxiety! It will get easier over time. Hopefully this link gives you a little bit of a place to start.
