Hi to whoever reads this, im in highschool and have been for a bit now and I feel so lifeless. I have many friends but I feel like I can't trust anyone and im falling back into my old habits, I dont know what to do anymore, I dont feel like myself and I really don't want to go back to my old self. I can't talk to my family because it involves them but I dont feel like myself anymore, I dont feel at home in my own house, its like im a stranger even when im looking in the mirror.

Hello Guest_32527219,

Feeling stuck and lifeless is such a horrible way to feel and I'm sorry to hear you are in that situation right now.

You mentioned not being able to talk to family and not trusting school mates but what about your teachers or other adults in your life? Is there anyone responsible around you that you feel able to talk to? Is there a counsellor or nurse at your school available to you?

I ask because I'm a mum of a HS student and although you are very welcome to talk here (or over the phone too) I feel like all young adults should have someone in person who can physically step in to help if you need it.

Can you think of any activites that you enjoy or have previously that are possible for you right now?

It is ok to want space from people at school to find yourself. At your age I didn't feel like I fit in with my peers and pressured myself to try enjoy what they all did which was a mistake in hindsight. It is fine to find your own interests and often you will meet likeminded new friends along the way.

Hopefully this message, even if it doesn't help, makes you feel heard and maybe a little less alone.

Take care of yourself and feel free to keep writing.

Hey thank you so much for giving me some advice. I went through some things with my family and I finally managed to bring up the thought of me seeing the counsellor. I go once a week and I think it really is helping. I still have my ups and downs but I've gotten away from falling all the way back down.
