Hi, I'm New here and I just wanted to introduce myself.
My depression and anxiety started about 2/3 years ago, but it's taken a turn for the worst this year. A lot of things have happened with friends and family, and I've just got really depressed and I can't seem to get myself out of the rut. Any suggestions on fighting depression? I've also become very anxious in social situations and in class I'm I'm finding it very hard to participate in class discussions.
Please help,
thanks 🙂

Hi Rach,
Fair enough, you'll talk to them when you feel up to it.
It's hard when your feeling so very low, just hang in there until September. Hopefully you are spending some time with your SIL and her baby. Your SIl is probably grateful to have you around to help with baby and talk at an adult level. I can be a pretty lonely time for new mums.
You did say easier that you're trying to keep in contact with your friends, it is a good idea to keep in contact at some level, so they don't think you are ignoring them. You will feel better and want o spend time with them again.
You are not a burden. You feel like a burden because your feeling down and head is playing tricks on you, it doesn't mean you are burden.
xx

Hello again Rach,
Did something happen that your parents said you can't do anything for your birthday, or is it just an off party year or something?
Maybe they will let you just have a friend over do some thing like James suggested?
I'm, pleased that you have decided to give boys a rest for the minute. A break is a good idea to help you heal and move on a little.
Hugs, xx

I really hope I get more comfortable sharing what I go through. It gets hard sometimes.
thank you for your support throughout this journey, I've had times today where I've been so down,I've had to leave the class because I was about to cry... And I don't know why.
I try and have company but obviously it's hard to always have company.... At nighttime in bed is the hardest time for me, my thoughts just flood negativity and it's horrible
thank you xx

Yeah I will, maybe... Or it might just be something that I get over without them. My sister and law does enjoy the company, I'm going to stay there this weekend, so that should be fun 🙂
I do try and take part in conversation at recess and lunch and even in class, but all my friends can see there's something going on.
And I'm not sure about my birthday, i asked them about having a friend over and even they didn't like that idea, so I'll see what happens....
thank you again for the continuous support
xx

Hi Rach,
I'm glad you're reaching out and sharing some of your story and feelings. I think the others have given wonderful advice and considerable support.
I don't have anything particularly insightful (or even vaguely useful) to add. But I wanted to chime in and say that I can empathise with some of your depression and anxiety. They can be very difficult and painful.
You're a star for sharing your story and asking for help/suggestions. Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do.

Hi Rach,
You are doing good job in a terrible time. It's hard to keep in contact with people but really important to hang in there. I'm sure your friends can see that something is wrong because they care about you, they will be concerned. It's not a bad thing to share how you are feeling. If you have to leave class because you're going to cry you must be feeling absolutely awful. Did anyone speak to you about it?
Just keep in mind that this is just one moment and one day it will change and you will be able to look back on it and smile because you'll understand.
Sweetie you said - At nighttime in bed is the hardest time for me, my thoughts just flood negativity and it's horrible. Do you feel like telling us the sort of thoughts are you having?
I'm delighted that you have weekend at your SIl's, she will be delighted to have a hand with stuff and some intelligent chat and giggles while your there. I hope you can relax and enjoy the moment. There is nothing like singing silly baby songs to make you all laugh.
Sorry about the birthday/ parent conversation. Oh well you tried, you never know things can change quickly. Gee instead you can drop lots of birthday hints at your Sil's this weekend, you know a new porsche, helicopter, puppy, kitten, horse, day spa etc, not sure of your chances on my suggestions though (grin)!
One step at a time is all it takes and you are stepping along fine.
Hugs, xx

Thanks, I feel like your the only one that really thinks that. No one spoke to me about when I had to leave class because I was going to try - not even my best friend noticed.
the thoughts just get more negative, feel more worthless ect.
I hope I can have some fun with her, my nephew never fails to make me feel happy. Haha! About the birthday sister in law ideas, I'm sure she will get something great for me
love x

Hi Rach,
Babies are quite clever at making us feel happy aren't they. It sounds you are going to have a great weekend, relax and enjoy. Your Sil sounds fabulous and clearly thinks a lot of you. Wonder what you'll get for your birthday, I thought the Porsche was probably a bit of a reach, grin!
I'm sorry the negative thought are getting worse, do you have any idea why they are getting worse? Don't forget there are people you can call, here for example 1300 22 44 36, always reach out. You are never really alone. It feels the way because the chemistry in your head is a bit out of kilter at the moment, it probably won't be forever. But it does mean that you hear is playing tricks on you making you think that you are alone and on cares. later you'll realise that there where people around you just couldn't see them.
Sweetie, do you know anything about meditation or mindfulness? There is heaps on the web if your interested. I like to meditate, it's lovely just sitting listening to gentle music, I love the water sounds, waves and raindrops, I just let my head drift and don't focus on anything but the sounds. If a my brain tries to come up with an idea I just ignore it and listen to the waves.
Maybe you could I've it a go? Anything to give your poor brain a rest is a good idea, funny movies or books?
Have a fabulous weekend and give that nephew of yours a big squishy cuddle.
Hugs, xx

Hi,
Ive had a really great weekend with my brother, sister and law and nephew. I didn't feel crappy all weekend!
At night I do feel alone.... And sometimes I reach out and sometimes I sit my room alone, crying....
I've heard of meditiation but I don't know much about it... I watch a youtuber that is into mediation and she's opening up her own course online soon, so I will get into that soon
