I'm Looking For A Girlfriend

Hey everyone. Liam here. I'm 20, soon to be 21, um, the reason I'm posting here is, if anyone doesn't know, I've been trying to get more friends, and after a long time of debating, I realise now that I want a girlfriend, to date, but NOT to have sex with. I want to make that very clear. What I want in a girlfriend is I want someone to hang out with as a very close friend, sort of like my male best friend, I want this girl to be able to come with me to family gatherings or when we visit family, I want someone chatty but also gentle, soft and sweet at the same time, and finally, and this is the most important one, I want to be able to receive hugs from this girl whenever I can.

the need for human connection is normal and everyone wants to be seen and heard. At 20, 60 or 100, you are going to want that. 
There are two things you have highlighted- looking for more friends, and seeking a romantic partner. 
The first is usually how the second one happens. 
Look at groups to join- Parkrun, meetup, social hobbies, and start making connections. 
women are people too! Not objects. 
If you want someone like your male best mate then think what you like about him, the conversations, respect, reliability. Thats then what you look for. 
Women want to feel safe, as most men present a threat to them, so be respectful, never touch her unless asked, don’t comment on how she looks as that is objectifying. 
You will find someone- but only if you go out and start mixing in social circles. 
There has been a real push to meeting IRL now, speed dating etc, so that’s a good thing as most women I know never go on the apps. 
You will be fine.
